Still work in progress J77 Sad

Cars been sat the whole of last week in the driveway, after the engine power loss issues.

(Wifes had to resort to taking taxis to work and the school run and i have ended up taking taxis as well).

The car is a mess as you can see from the roof photos. Glad i checked under the rubber seal, and as expected the damage is there for all too see. Had i not inspected under the rubber seal then all would have seemed fine, on the surface, but its obvious the way the plastic part that i received back was cut that its inevitable that damage must have occurred occurred on the roof. Plus how will they fix the 1 inch gouge on the roof - weld it ?? Censored

I would be embarrassed as a garage to churn out substandard rubbish like this and have the nerve to charge customers for fitting and be expected to be happy with the end product. Sad

I would have done a far superior job myself as i would have taken my time. Just looks as if the accessories were slapped on as quick as possible. Only reason i let the garage do the accessories was due to my work commitments and being a bit apprehensive about damaging the car. Well one things for sure i would not have taken 1 inch chunks of metal out of the roof !!!

I also have a set of specialist plastic tools which i use for taking off door panels, grommets etc which dont leave marks on the plastics etc, that metal tools do. Surely LR have access too this type of equipment. For a premium product to end up like this is an utter shambles and embarrassment, for LR.

Am more embarrassed forking out all this money for the damn thing to sit in the driveway.

Was better of sticking too a £10k ford fiesta than spending a small fortune on this pile of scrap. Censored Censored Censored Censored

Sorry Sportcoupe, am not trying to put anyone of the LR brand.

I have been brand loyal for 25 years,

Seems like am the only one one the forum who has a whole rack of issues. Am just a drop in the ocean mate.

Just highlighting the way i have been treated by my dealer and expected to put up with all this mess.

Like J77 quoted earlier, there is good and bad dealers with all the car brands.

Seems like am hedging back to the Subaru Forester am afraid.

Engine management light came on this evening after a 4 mile round trip in town, and smoking issue accompanied by the burning smell has resurfaced again. Engines power is also dipping. Lost what little confidence I had left in the car TOTALLY now. It's an accident waiting to happen. Shocked

    RR,
Do you have a "Lemon Law" in Scotland? Seems like JLR should buy your D5 back.

RR, I thought my car was really unreliable but then when I read your tales of woe I think mine isn't so bad after all!

When I'm not in the operating theatre, I'm mountain biking, spending time with my family, running and socialising. I have a Discovery 5 HSE Lux with pretty much every option ticked. This is my first ever Land Rover. Been a rocky road with regards to reliability but we're getting there.

Like I said before Doc am just unlucky. Never had any previous issues with any of my LRs apart from a faulty battery, and the odd rattle or squeak. I assumed the D5 being a brand new model would have been trouble free as it's evolved over several model changes. Obviously not!! Shocked

The D5, 2 litre courtesy car I had for a few weeks worked flawlessly, and i assumed my car would have been just as reliable. It was such a pleasure to drive compared to the fault ridden one I have now. Also possible the more higher the spec, the more faults as there are more electronics to go wrong, etc.

You guys are having minor issues in comparison, but as you fully well know the engine is the heart of the car, and if it's not working correctly then your going to have issue's. Like I said on an earlier post, I dont want the engine failing prematurely and then arguing with LR about what is covered and what's not, warranty wise. Obviously an issue with the engine from day one.

Filled up with diesel tonight and engine gauge is only showing 3 percent full. Thats another issue I seem to have is a faulty fuel gauge. The list goes on Shocked

Hi, as far am I am aware its only in the USA that has the Lemon Law. We have something called the Consumer Rights Act which recently replaced the Sale of Goods Act. I suppose it works on a similar basis to the Lemon Law.

Basically buyers can get a Full Refund if cars found to be faulty within 30 days, or if It develops a fault within the first 6 months the owner can demand a repair or replacement vehicle or a refund.

My cars still work in progress as we speak. Rolling Eyes

I've been living in hope that I'll one day have a symptom that you're premium vehicle isn't experiencing, so here you go lets see if you can trump this one.

Note what speed analogue clock says and then what my digital read out tells me. The analogue clock was correct I hope.

If you haven't seen it yet its only a question of time with that motor of yours !!

    30 mph out ????? Shocked

Oh well i just hope you dont get a speeding ticket - try explaining that to the the police officer.

No doubt you would get breathalysed as well if you came up with that excuse like that, saying your speedo is 30 mph out.

    No, clearly says MPH.

Shortly after I noticed this the digital display locked up, and only after I stopped and drove off again did the digital display start displaying speed which did sync with the analogue clock.
