    Deployable tow bar

Does anyone know if you can fit a tow ball cover to the deployable tow bar?

Having crawled underneath there looks to be enough space.

    Regards Mark

I should add. I fit both the soft rubber one and the hard plastic one. Not at the same time, it depends whether i have towed the caravan or boat last. One has grease on the other is grease free.

Thanks for the advice I didn't want it sat out in the salt and road grime only to find when I need to use it that it is all pitted and corroded!

I understand from other forums, should the ball hitch become damaged it requires a completely new bracket. Ouch!!

So if not used too often, a liberal coating of grease is a good idea.

For those who tow a caravan with stab (AL-KO AKS), remember, under no circumstances can a greased tow ball be used with a stabiliser. Ensure you remove all grease before hitching up. Use a cloth to remove the excess grease, and use brake cleaner to remove any residue, otherwise, the stabilising friction will be lost.
The only time it would be an idea to grease a ball is between towing to prevent the ball from getting rusty and then clean it off with brake cleaner before you hitch up. Doing this will stop the ball getting smaller ( tow ball limit is 49.61mm, tow ball in a new condition - 50mm) when you abrasive clean it trying to get the rust off.
Even more, AL-KO recommends cleaning the tow ball from all paint before use with AKS. To remove the paint, simply rub with emery paper (100-120 grit), ideally finishing with a coat of brake cleaner fluid to remove any residue.
