2019 Discovery Td6 HSE Lux Carpathian Grey

A Disco is for life, not just Christmas

Except for this one, which I’ve borrowed from a colleague over the Christmas period as I need 7 seats. My MY18 should be ready early Jan.

I’ve borrowed one a few times now. Had one for the snow last week, was very impressed. I think the lighter weight helps, less momentum in icy conditions.

The comparative body-roll (to my current car) is taking longer to adjust to....

In snow and ice use GGS + low traction launch, amazing, even on 21” rims on ice it didn’t spin a wheel.

Yes, but a D3 and D4 perform the same. What is better is stopping distance/control.

D3/4 doesn’t have low traction launch, though. Adds that bit more sure footedness when pulling away over the previous model.

The D5 ain’t that much lighter, at least the 3.0 isn’t. It feels the same to stop.

Never had an issue pulling away in a 3 or 4. Was impressed I couldn't get the D5 to skid even when I was trying to (without being silly).

350kg lighter, so the equivalent of a set of passengers.

Never had an issue with the D4, just moves it up a level.

We had a fair bit of snow in North Herefordshire the other week I spent a few days driving with off road winter tyres the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac.

I Then swapped over to a proper winter tyre the Nokian Hakkapeliitta (I removed the studs)

The Duratrac's were good all round and I felt quite happy with them as they are a tough tyre (should you hit a curb or lump of hard ice)
The Nokian's were better in drive, braking and less side slide.

    Both 20" Ø

I have left the Nokian's on for the rest of the winter Thumbs Up

Andrew, are the Duratrac’s available to fit the standard HSE 20” wheels ?

Jolly good. Best tyre I ever used. Will be changing from the stock Scorpion Verde’s to these once they reach EOL.
