    SDV6 2019MY v Td62017MY

Well, Mine has gone in for another Oil & Filter so i've had the Carrot dangled in the form of a 306BHP SDV6 engined Discobery 5.

Initial findings after a few hundred miles... It's a very well put together Vehicle, it can pick it's feet up with absolutely no effort what so ever, It is smoother than my TdV6, much more agile and the suspension also appears more upright in the twisty bits. very much point and squirt.
It adds another layer of luxury, elegance and sophistication to an already luxurious drive.

In comparison mine accelerates well but it is grabby and snatchy going up the gears, not that noticeable but it isn't like a DSG box, this 2019 one is so smooth it makes mine feel old.

Then there's the brakes, They are massive up front and very very good, smooth and really firm, from the first dab of the pedal you can tell instantly that they are upgraded from the 256BHP version in mine which are fine but may well have struggled with the extra 50BHP. Compared to the standard D3 brakes which were awful in comparison the standard ones on the D5 are more than adequate. These on the 306BHP feel almost race tuned.

So despite mine suffering from Oil Dilution i am more than happy with it's performance, road manners and comfort. This is another step up and what feels like a step forwards in stead of a step back like mine in comparison to the D4 SDV6.

    Hell NO.....

But initiall driving over a few hundred miles would have you hooked, you can see how people like myself think that buying an expensive luxury vehicle would seem like a good idea after initial road testing.

it's a replacement for mine while they look at it again before telling me there's nothing they can do.... It left the manufacturer faulty...etc etc etc,

The manufacturer has blamed me as ive stated multiple times,, so on that basis i'd rather drive round in a rust bucket from France than buy another Land Rover product,

The SDV6 engine is great. I have it in my velar.
40mpg. Fast. No oil dilution issues.

If only it was a hybrid as well .......

Well actually I tink this might be true.
I am reading in a facebook user group where we had some oil samples tested. All come back with 0 (yes ZERO) oil dilution. The only thing is: The car's software thinks there is oil dilution, thus the early service warning. So for the D5 3.0L it seems the car only calculates wrong and therefore wants oil service while the oil itself is good.

Different thing with the Disco Sport though: Calculation there is correct and dilution is there. How much depends heavily on the driving style.

It seems odd that engine oil would have zero Fuel in it...... Your not sending your samples to JLR are you Whistle

Curious to see what the real world service interval will be for these MY19 SD6 and, off topic, what engines JLR might come up with for MY20 as diesel sales go down and petrol sales go up, but the disco now only has a 4 cylinder petrol which seems a bit weird to me...
