  News: JLR to create 4 brands, one of which is "Discovery"...

  Worth a read - seems Discovery could become its own 'brand', in big shake-up:

  "Discovery is now six years old, and a successor is planned to arrive around 2025 with an electric option. Car makers are making tough decisions everywhere in axing mainstays of their ranges in preparation for an electric future, yet seemingly the Discovery will not suffer this same fate.
  
  "Instead, Land Rover is backing itself to strike gold again as it has done over several times over the past couple of decades in finding new segments, and rebooting its icons. It needs to go to the well again in creating the new Discovery, as a like-for-like replacement will struggle to cut it as a car, let alone create a brand."

  This originates from the US.. .. where (not too bright) potential buyers went
  looking for a 'Range Rover' dealer, not knowing the brand is Land Rover..
  
  Now they are expanding on that I guess. But one could see Jaguar as a (sub)
  brand of Land Rover, and that doesn't really "fly-of-the-shelves' in the USA.
  
  So I guess a branding to Discovery / Range Rover / Defender , would make
  the problem for that set of wannabee buyers 3 times bigger..
  
  They should hold on to their bootstraps and revive Range Rover as the brand,
  and then LR 1 / LR 2 / LR 3 , and why not make Jaguar in the USA LRJ1 LRJ2...
  
  Its all in the same showroom anyway..
