I did have my hopes raised late yesterday when I received a txt with a video from the dealership 😃

Although the electrics / carpets are sitting underwater & its rusting from the inside out😢

I have small comfort in knowing that my tyres & brake pads are looking healthy 🤭 Rolling with laughter

At least my Christmas list is sorted this year👍 tho 70mph down the M5 with it might be a little optimistic.

    *update*

Just had had a call from dealership & the diagnosis this time round is the rear door window seal.

TBH never paid much attention to the outside,
I had been looking more for signs of water inside the cabin, definitely didn’t see any water runs or droplets on either rear door sill or rubber.
all door drain holes were clear, but I wouldn’t have expected them to leak inside the cabin anyway.

You would have thought that most of the roof run off should channel down the tailgate or windscreen, so very surprised they have identified the rear door window at fault given the amount of water involved.

The proposed fix at the moment is again at the mercy of JLR & any good will gesture, but this time round it includes all carpets again & a rear screen display module that has drowned, circa 4k repair estimate.

Given that water ingress isn’t even covered under a comprehensive dealer approved used car warranty.

A misdiagnosis first time round is a strong possibility, so JLR taking ownership of the situation might now be somewhat tainted,

    Only time will tell.

Unfortunately I could only find this LR umbrella,
on first glance it looked suitable.?

But due to it’s small size & needing complete coverage,
    I decided to go large,

Tho on reflection! I’m now leaning more towards option 2.
I’m confident I can mod it to fit the disco Very Happy

Just needs a lill work & a tweak or two.

Tho hitting 70 with it deployed still might be an issue Bow down

    Latest update

Looks like things are looking favourable.

Just placed a call to the dealer & it sounds like JLR are once again picking up the bill.👍

Seems JLR wants the dealer to upload a few pics before they sign it off,

So not a win yet, more like 4-0 up at halftime

    *Update*

Just had word from the dealership that JLR have finally approved all works & are picking up the bill again, with the rear door window seal being cited as the point of water ingress.

This time round, it’s new carpets & floor mats, rear door window seals, rear tailgate seals & rear screen entertainment module.

It’s been a few weeks, So thought I’d post an update,

Having just spoken to the dealership, I’m still without my disco, Big Cry

6 weeks on from dropping it back to them to stop the cabin from filling with water,
I’m no closer to getting it fixed & returned,😢

I’ve been told it’s sitting in the workshop (nice n dry) & waiting on parts (with no eta)
namely a full set of carpets & the rear screen entertainment module.

The did want me to return the loaner, a F-Pace R-dynamic 😃 a couple of weeks back,
but now have a XC40🙁 from enterprise to runaround in, so I’m still mobile,

But what’s the chance of getting my motor back anytime soon🤭

The joys of owning a Disco😢

    ***Latest update***

    Things are actually moving forward.

It’s been just over 3 months since I dropped the Disco off at the dealers,
but I received a call today saying the final missing component (rear media module) is now onsite & all being well, I should get my motor back sometime next week.👍

I’m still not convinced that all that water ingresses had been down to a failed rear door window seal,
but I guess only time will tell.

Incredible isn't it, that in this day and age, the manufacturer/dealer can survive with the VOR clock ticking by for three months. I work in another part of the the automotive industry, and when years ago I was working with another manufacturer, they'd have a VOR dashboard so that senior managers had oversight of everything on the VOR board, along with the time it had been with the dealer.

So if things were more than a few days, it really honed the attention of senior people to make sh*t happen to get it back to the customer and operation again.

I hope you do get it back soon, and that this is the end of the matter.

With JLR picking up the bill for the job & hire car,
I bet the whole timeline would have played out differently if the costs incurred had to be covered by the dealership.

I just hope they have actually fixed the leak this time round Bow down Bow down Bow down

It’s taken just over 3 months, but I’ve finally cot the Disco back,👍

The dealer had a 2 month wait for the replacement carpets & 3 months to get their hands on the entertainment module.

For now, all dry inside & it doesn’t smell like a wet dog,

I just hope it stays that way🙏
