Fitted one of these vinyl bonnet decals on the D4...toying with the idea of getting one for the D5...it looked the part on the D4, but the D5, even though the contrast of black decal on white paint is tempting... it's a bit like the painted brake calipers, I'll have to think about it a bit.
Hang on……..a bloke who once sported a purple goatee has to think about a bonnet decal?😳
What is wrong with you, there’s no decision required……..just do it?😂
You could always stick that pic over the mantlepiece.
Might not be the very best portrait but at least it’ll keep the grandkids away from the fire place.😂
Did an oil and filter change this afternoon along with the fuel filter. I fitted a K&N performance air filter when I did the last service so that just needed a wash out and refitting.
Couldn't find my fuel connector pliers anywhere, I must have loaned them to someone and forgot about it...those self sealing couplers on the top of the fuel filter are a pain in the butt to take off without the pliers. If I can't remember who I loaned them to, I'll have to buy another set to save the ends of my fingers getting frayed
Anyway, service interval reset and all done for another 5K miles...

Usually the way...but apart from being a fussy with my tools being in the right drawer in the right toolchest, sockets all on rails by size and type, ratchets and extensions in the top box etc, all my pliers, grips, filter wrenches and mole grips etc are usually clipped onto a big board on my workshop wall...with an empty space where the fuel connector pliers should be...
Edit:
Just remembered where they are, I had them round at my mate Lee's farm a few weeks ago when we were sorting out a knackered fuel pump on his tractor...I must have forgotten to shove them back in my toolbox so they'll probably still be lying on his workbench where I left them
(An hour later after a quick brew and a catch up on the gossip with Lee) Aye, they were there right enough...saves me buying a new set
Front end transformation just about complete now. Have done the black bonnet lettering and the air scoop inserts today also in black to compliment last weeks grille change.
Here’s the before + after:
Quite happy with the transformation so far, wing mirror covers in black and rear boot lettering are next on the list.😃
Oh yeah, and paint the front + rear tow eye covers too, might do the tailpipe outers too at the rear.
Awesome look. Don't forget to fit your smoked black LED indicator repeaters when you do the mirror caps though
It's surprising how much a few bits of black plastic can change the entire look of the D5, isn't it?
I'm just glad I never had to do the bonnet and tail lettering on mine though...it would be guaranteed I'd get at least one of the letters squint...like my little HSE badge when I stuck it back on after fitting the black numberplate surround...it's still squint
I got away with the bonnet lettering but it wasn’t until I started adhering the new lettering when I realised the spacing was slightly different.🙄
After a quick rethink, I was able to make do without it looking a disaster.
I need a way to add a Ctek charging point at the front now, might have to look into striping the jump lead hookup to see where I can bolt to. Why didn’t they thread the damn terminal?😡
Interesting comment about the rear number plate black plate. It’s currently a consideration but so is doing the plate centralising mod. The rear plate offset doesn’t anger me like I expected it would so I might not bother and just go with the trim plate instead.

A tap and dye set will do it, just tap a thread down the ground hook up post and add a couple of lock-nuts...I think I'll do that to mine now you've mentioned it
Aye, after popping out to have a look at the hook ups...I noticed they both have these weird grippy grooves on them...tapping a proper thread on both won't do it as the turned grooves are a quite deep cut so tapping a thread will make them a bit thin...
Might have to see if I can take the positive terminal off and replace it with... something... either that or take a live connection from the headlight wiring or positive side of the relay/fuse box. I'll dig the wiring diagrams out and have a look-see later on
