Disco is ready to collect, it's had a load of new software and a road test this morning then back on diagnostics and they're happy that it's good to go. Will collect later and drop of their Sport.
When I'm not in the operating theatre, I'm mountain biking, spending time with my family, running and socialising. I have a Discovery 5 HSE Lux with pretty much every option ticked. This is my first ever Land Rover. Been a rocky road with regards to reliability but we're getting there.

So it's collected and all seems fine.
I went and spoke to the Sales Manager and explained that I'm not happy being a guinea pig and said that when the next model year comes out I want to chop this in and I don't expect to lose a fortune.
He said he will contact me in about 8 weeks when he has info on the next model year which will include the new 6cyl Ingenium Diesel engine. I thought that was another year away?
So just as they sort the car bugs out we will have engine glitches to fix.
What's people's thoughts? Reckon they'll have it sorted by then for a new one October?

The D3/4 still had reliability issues 12 years into production, when it comes to LR there will be issues regardless of model year. A lot of the tech on the D5 has been used on current models for a while, Incontrol Pro for example it's been a 🐷 on the F-Pace and XE and it's still problematic on the D5.
It's sad but true LR has been at the bottom of every reliability survey for decades and customer service ain't much better.

Back in the dealer today with a burnt out resistor apparently. Slowly losing patience with the car.

Not good Doc.
My one has no cameras now, its saying on the screen.
Boot issues and rear sets not folding flat either.
Seems the cars slowly shutting down now,

So mine is in the garage and leaving work tonight my D5 HSE courtesy car packed up. It was like someone cut the throttle cable. Restarted and tried everything but no joy. LRA attended and didn't have a clue so it's being collected. I said I'm not waiting for it. My wife had to collect me. Just got home, I'm on call tonight so thankfully have the Macan to rely on.
But this is where these faulty cars get serious. The D5 could have failed in the night whilst driving to the hospital to potentially carry out emergency life saving surgery. I'm really starting to lose patience. 6 years in 2 x X5's and they never put a foot wrong. Ok they won't go up a mountain but they'd go further than 2 knackered D5's would.
Really feeling like I've wasted £75k.

Picking up an X5 hire car from Thrifty at 10am. I'm not trusting another LR while I'm on call and my wife needs our other car. LR dealer hasn't even been in touch to arrange another loan car. They can pay the Thrifty bill instead.

I'm Reading your ongoing issue posts.
This is horrific.
Way beyond just a niggle or a rattle.
Vehicles that conk out leaving stranded are totally unacceptable. More so in your case as thecjourneys you have to do could be a life or death situation.
I've never rejected a vehicle but know some who have. I'd be rejecting your Dsco 5.
Actually LR ought to be stepping around the dealer to sort this out properly.
I realise it's early days in the model life of Disco5, but you'd think the initial vehicles would be absolutely perfect in every way build wise. Vehicle conking out - complex thing it is could be simple issue or fundamental component failure & it's likely not to be found by LR assist, the AA or the dealer " clearing faults"
I'm surprised the situation hasn't made the national press yet.
At the very least it ought to be able to get from A to B. Forget all the other fancy stuff.
Are you still able to reject ?
Even if the original Disco is fixed are you happy & confident keeping it ?

Sorry to hear your problems, but I would be rejecting the car. I've done it in the past with another brand.

Never had too reject a car in my whole life either. This looks like my first rejection also. Only other rejection in the family was a D2 which had major water ingress and electrical issues from day 1. Was like a fish bowl so much water saturating the footwells, leaving the mats soaking and then mould growing, due too the heater being left on too dry the car, resulting in a perfect medium for fungal spores blossoming all over the car and on the roof lining. Smelt of mouldy bread

My only serious water ingress was also with a D2. Running down the offside rear quarter. Took the dealer weeks to detect that it was entering at the front due to a bad bit of gutter sealing. Water flowed along to the rear before appearing at the bottom of the trim panel. I think that was the same D2 that had 3 replacement rear diffs in about 18 months. According to he dealer LR, as it was then, had been supplied with a faulty batch of diffs.
