"Land Rover is now wary of revealing concept cars for fear of the design being plagiarised, so it has decided against giving an early flavour of the Defender."
I know they mean Chinese knock-offs, but this is also the reason the US Ford Explorer looks the way it does (2014 below, but same shape since 2012)
Also - "What it must beat" - fails to mention the Jeep Wrangler. US sales will be instrumental in getting them over their 100,000 unit per year hurdle...and you can't offer a 4x4 in the US without it being compared to Jeep. I also have a hard time believing the camo'd cars are anything but test mule bodies and won't look like the final product....
I see some new details though - squared wheel arches, maybe a Safari roof, perhaps more steeply raked windscreen...and if I squint really hard, Android Auto.
...It better have Android Auto. They need to dump ICTP.
ICTP is not that bad (when it works) and there’s no reason it can’t coexist with Android Auto and CarPlay. Many manufactures have their own system and support both.
That image is a sand drawing on the beach at Red Wharf Bay on Anglesey in North Wales. Birth place of the Land Rover. I guess they didn’t have time to draw everything... before the tide came in.
