    Camping

I use my LR 3 and now 5 for hiking camping trips . The usual destination is somewhere in the Adirondacks.

Lots of trees so a hammock is a good piece of kit

Concerning camping and Disco5, can somebody measure the exact possible length and width of the car from inside with closed back seats? Is it comfortable to sleep inside for 2 persons?
Has somebody tried any kind of roof tent on the Disco 5? Does it feel solid with the crossbars? I want to buy the Airtop or Maggiolina.

I had a trial stretch out in the back and it should be okay for sleeping as a last resort.

    Hi Arslanoff,

Very comfy. You also have added bonus of raising the back up/down to get it level. I slept in it on that night and it was comfy. I am in process of working out what i want to do . ie camper trailer or roof rack and roof top tent setup.

    Nice!
When you make the back up will it stay in this position? Will not go in automatic parking lowering later on?
I want to make it 2 adults + 3 children weekend bicycle traveller with the possibility to sleep. So adults can sleep in the roof tent and children inside the car or wise verse,

It appeared to stay in that position. I just chucked a foam mattress i had in with a sleeping back and doona. Plenty of room.

in its basic form less than 2kg, no messing with poles and no looking for a flat stone and root free spot. Finding two suitable trees in the Adirondacks has never been a problem but I would probably struggle on a normal camp site. The nice thing about the ADK`s is that muck of it is state land so as long as you are not near water or a trail, you can pitch anywhere

You do have to use a three seasons lit to make it bearable in the spring and autumn, but thats worth not being eaten alive by blackfly Smile

not at all, even fully covered, but if you want you can place the tent even more forward to open the shark fin fully or half of it, crossbars from Thule can be fitted in any place) And the boot lid opens fully without any problem.
the only thing is that the back clamp of the tent can touch the shark fin when opened, so can scratch it somehow, that is why I have decided to cover it fully.
