Hi chaps I've inserted 12mb Tgree sim which was pretty straight forward to set up. I've tested the Navigation app which I think uses the in car sim to communicate and it works well.
I assume this as well, that the (online) navigation searches need an active SIM. I need to decide soon whether or not to give AT&T $10 a month for this nicety. Not sure what else in the car actually would need data if I don't use it as a hotspot.
Oh, the car location probably uses data too. My insurance company likes that feature and gives me a discount so I guess that's a plus.

Car location works off of the onboard Sim, not the one added by the owner.

Finally getting ready too properly set the car up over the weekend.
Whats the best data sim/network/ most GB and cheapest price too go for ???
I do recall 3/EE Networks were possibly mentioned, as was buying it from Amazon a good few months back ???
Basically i want as much GB as possible for as cheap as possible !!!
As you probably know You Tube eats the data up quickly, (kids favourite) plus with mobiles and ipads in the car it wont last long.
Any information is well appreciated .
Cheers

I fitted the pre loaded 3 sim in the Velar. 24 months, 24GB for £45 from Amazon as recommended on here. Works a treat.

I’ve used 173MB in 2 months but my live stuff hasn’t been working and not needed the nav. Just had the latest update so my web browser and live stuff up and running though when I login to live it just says “verifying”
But everything else works, the weather, news, flight tracker etc so may use more now.

Funnily enough that's what I got ...after originally buying a couple of 3 12gb's I decided that I did't want to risk running out of data
