    Not sure if these keys were available before but just taken delivery of my MY18 Discovery and it came with an updated key.....

    At last, LR has changed the key. It’s been around a while.

    I wonder if my Velar will have that key or the pebble?

    This new one looks more robust. The D3 key was water proof and pretty drop proof. The current key (17MY) is very fragile and mines already chipped.

    Frankly, I like the 2017 key a little more (just a little) as it is very recognizable LR / RR key, the new one is almost standard and very classical. Concerning being fragile, I have a bumper for that. It is steel, makes the key heavy, but very strong.

    I keep mine in a silicone cover.

    The physical key is similar to the previous key. It clicks out from the base.
