    Web browser

Hi all ...got to get up to speed and learning lots on here from your experiences, so thanks for that.

One thing is I've had in the last 3 motors a TV but I didn't spec it for this as the only time I seemed to watch was while waiting for the wife in Sainsburys Laughing

I notice that with a data sim you can access a web browser and this got me thinking ...has anyone managed to log into Netflix or similar?

Not tried that but it’s a pretty limited browser based on what little use I’ve made of it. Logged into my Google account and had the obligatory security email saying my account was being used in another device.

Interesting thing is the D5’s browser identifies itself as being on a Blackberry device ! I’d have thought LR would use a custom Android build for ICTP but it seems not.

You’ll use up your data pretty fast too streaming video unless you pay for a unlimited plan.

Yes you can. And you can use it in place of the data sim by joining the phones Wi-fi hotspot. I found though that the car forgets the network though after you’ve left the car. In return it never auto joined the hotspot. Might have been an ICTP bug that’s now fixed following the Phase 3 Update. Not tried since as I bought a Three PAYG sim preloaded with 24GB data cheap on Amazon. Will bin it when it’s run dry and buy another one on offer. Car itself uses very little data for live traffic, Nav searches online etc.

You can also add the car to your home Wi-fi but again not done this as it’s too far from my router to see the network. No idea if it auto joins each time you return home though. It should do I guess.

You had the Phase 3 ICTP Update? My D5 wouod forget the phones hotspot and had manually reconnect. Data sim seems better. Though only 3G until MY18. Phone would get 4G so in theory faster.

Never had issue's from new its always been stable. Having said that occasionally the sim would not automatically turn on when the car was started, it's done this about 3 or 4 times.
I did pop into to Shukers last week and they up dated all the updates.
