Touch button to access CD and Hidden Storage - NOT WORKING

    Hi All,

    Can anyone help?
I have a 67 plate discovery 5 and the release button to access the CD and Hidden Storage has failed.
Does anyone know, how to release it?

Land Rover Assist have said that I will need to sign a waver that if they damage the unit or anything surrounding it, they cannot be held responsible.
I would have to pay for any damage and repair.
I am now really fed up with what appears to be a lemon, had it 9 months and its been in to the dealership about 7 times for various things
    1) mainly Oil Dilution - even though 65% of my driving is long distance over 40 miles and some over 90 miles (one way on a Motorway).
    2) The DEF system (Tank and system replaced) in January
    3) DEF fluid had to be topped up in February
The intelligent Folding Seats option has not worked for a long time and Land Rover, cannot find a solution.

Anyone have any ideas as to what they would do in my situation?

    Regards
    Sanjivsai

The button will likely still work as it’s a simple mechanism that drops the catch (situated centrally on the top edge). While pressing the button use the volume control to pull the flap open.

This is the only way I can open mine now.

It’s likely the mechanism that pushes the flap open thats gone weak

I have an April D5 SE and boy do I miss my CD - like the one I had on my D4 SE.
I have yet to get round to transferring my CDs to the 'Thingy' that plugs into a socket in the box between the front seats.

Perhaps one of these might be more useful, tucked in the centre console somewhere? Whistle

Not Quite, but it does remind me of the days when vehicles didn't come with radios.
The first thing I did was buy an Arial and mount it on the wing feeding the cable under the front passenger seat plugged into a Bush portable radio Wink
Whenever I approached a pretty looking young lady I reached over and switched it on at full blast with the window open.
Mind you, in those days that in itself was a major operation, no seat belts so fairly easy to reach over, no electric windows so that was a bit more difficult using the winder !
Then of course the radios/aerials weren't as good as those of today so the signal would come and go so it was a bit of a gamble whether full volume would work Smile
Yes, those were the days when external mirrors and locking petrol caps were Extras !!
Later on the option of a single seat belt was offered, no one ever dreamed of worrying about the passengers !!

Mine fails to open the compartment most of the time, I usually pull on the volume button when pressing the open button which opens it. i have also found that giving it a good hard slam when closing it and then a hard prod of the button when opening it tends to stop it sticking too.

Actually, it might be the fact that the environment is hot at the moment here, maybe the plastics swell up?
