Member on the Velar forum is running, says it's a lot slicker than the previous update. ACP/AA works well.

Thanks
So the SDD verses Pathfinder is a red herring.
Did your dealer apply the smartphone pack as a special for you or are they applying this as part of the 18C update ? If you know that is

My Phase 4 is 18B, what is different about 18C?
Is it important?
Stability and bug fixes. I.E. it’s supposed to be better than 18B.

Just read in the tech blogs:
Quote:
Jaguar and Land Rover have announced that beginning with the 2019 model year, all vehicles with InControl Touch Pro or Touch Pro Duo interfaces will support an optional connectivity package including CarPlay and Android Auto. New car buyers will have to pay $280 or more depending on the model and trim, but current U.S. owners will eventually be able to get a retroactive update, one which is already available to some drivers in the U.K.
Hope retrograde update is free and not a chargeable addition !!

Bit confused by this. The iphone / android hack will only work with a car that has carplay right?
Does phase 5 have carplay or is it an add on.

Yes the back would only work if the system has ACP/AA
I don't think anyone knows yet what's in phase 5
2019 D5 Lux. HUD, adaptive dynamics, dynamic pack 2, cooler box, privacy glass, advanced tow assist, black roof rails, massage seats, tech plus pack, detachable towbar, driver assist pack, capability plus pack.

You can use Android Auto now with your phone connected via Bluetooth as a media device, it just doesn't mirror the display to the vehicle.
The hardware on the vehicle is already AA/ACP compliant, it just needs a firmware and software update to support the special mirroring for both AA and ACP.

I need to book my MY18 in for a couple of little things but will wait until end of Oct to make sure I can get it done at the same time.
I do like the inControl Pro and sooooo much better than previous incarnations of JLRs in car systems - our 2013 Jag XF didn't even know North from South on the nav half the time!
