Think I’ll stick with the Duratrac’s when I need to change (my Pirelli have done nearly 30K now and tramline A LOT). Loved them on my D4.

Discovery SVX has 275/55 tyres, but the engineers of JLR did a lot to fit them.

Discovery SVX has improved approach, departure and breakover angles, achieved by raising both the lightweight aluminium monocoque architecture and the four-corner air suspension system, employing long-travel dampers and revised knuckles, and fitting larger 815mm diameter 275/55 R20 Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tyres on forged aluminium alloy wheels.
Tyres with higher side-walls reduce contact pressure and improve performance on soft surfaces. Combined with a more aggressive tread pattern, this improves grip in muddy conditions.

Also other forum members recommend not play with different dimension tyres than those recommended by the vehicle's manufacturer on any vehicle with such complex electronic managements... all those systems were calibrated from factory for standard dimension tyres and exceeding that will mix up the whole management and nothing will work 100% OK anymore, you might gain ONLY few inches of ground clearance and ruin other more important capabilities of the vehicle which will be just a bit taller but less responsive .

So now I am not absolutely sure that 275/55 R 20 is 100% no problem to fit.

I ran 2" taller tires than OE on my Touareg with its computer controlled AWD system and locking diffs for over 100,000 miles with zero problems, and many people have done the same on other modern vehicles with very sophisticated systems. Tire selection has more to do with fuel economy for certification and on-road handling qualities. The outside diameter of the tires only matters when one or more are significantly different, which causes the differential and the sensors to believe there's slippage on one or more wheels. This will occur if you don't rotate them regularly, whether they're the OE size or not, or if you don't very carefully monitor your tire pressure. The vehicle doesn't know what diameter the wheels are. The myth that a 1.9inch larger diameter tire will screw up the vehicle's electronic systems is just wrong.

It's not about ground clearance, it's about sidewall flexibility and the ability to absorb impacts without squaring off your wheels or busting belts or blowing out a tire. Taller sidewalls are better at this because they're more flexible.
