Good stuff - would you mind sharing whatever they discover (and the name of the dealership) as mine is going in on 19th and it would be interesting to see if it’s a problem that’s shared across the two vehicles?

Right spoke to dealer today and they confirmed the following.
There is evidence of an oil leak, this is very very minor with a film around the joint where the gearbox meets the engine.. They cannot see where it is coming from and are loathed to start to strip away loads of stuff without the leak being more evident or prominent.
They are going to have a futher look tomorrow and go from there.

Got the car back late Friday.
They have confirmed there is an oil film over an area at the back of the engine but no clear sign of an oil leak as such. They have cleaned it all off and given it a long run and cannot see where it is coming from. they have confirmed there is now no smell in the car afetr a run and I can confirm after doing a resonable drive the weekend there was no smell. This is probably down to the fact the oil has been cleaned off.
We had a long discussion about the oil and if it was worth stripping down/removing the gearbox etc for a film of oil and it was agreed to monitor and see what happens, they are aware of the oil, the smell and are confident it will not fail massivly

Russell, and as an update for anyone else who might have an issue...
It turned out that the issue was a weep from the rear of the off-side rocker cover - they changed the gasket...
Now all sorted... so far!
