ah so dealer trying to tell me there is an update that is going to improve the issue is actually complete rubbish there is nothing they can do other than change the oil and filter and we are stuffed for the life of the car with service intervals between 1700 and 7000 miles?

Assuming so, that actually makes all 2017 TD6 cars unfit for purpose and JLR should be modifying them to make them fit for purpose. Think in month 4 it is time to quit this Land Rover ownership lark.

Chalkys HSE has some serious problems, but it is not necessarily typical of all MY17 cars. Thumbs Up

This is true, and again the dealer said words to that affect, theyv'e said that ther's 2017 MY that have only been back once for the annual service and others have been back multiple times,

To be fair to the car its the only notable issue with the car most of my issues are with the dealership but i cant live with it being serviced every 5000 miles. (The other issues i have are design issues i should have noticed before buying it, like the ridiculously large steering wheel and wallowy ride and handling)

    Nope, MY17.
But yes, it is MY17 and still my VIN is within the range of N222vX.

    Qouting from topix:
    Name: N222v2
    Modell: Discovery (LR)
    Modell Year: 2018
    VIN: 030810 - 079568

    My MY17 VIN is SALRA2BK9HA0379xx.

    Hauser

Hauser, can i just you do know that 37 comes after 30 ? and that despite what you said previously your vehicle is in the 2018MY range ?

Well, like I said from the beginning:
My D5 is a MY17. There are several things that make it easy to differentiate MY17 from MY18. I sit in mine every day and all those parts are MY17.
Since mine was build on September 14th, it was very close to beginning of MY18. Possible they changed some engine/DEF parts 7.000 units before mine was build. Since they make 120-125 a day it comes down to 57 days before September 14th. Sounds reasonable for me.

    Greets,
    Hauser

P.s. And if you still don't believe me, believe Land Rover (Topix): Modell year: 2017

MY18 has digital tellers behind the steering wheel, so easy to tell. Doesn’t matter it has been built in 2017 or 2018.

Chalky, what is it with you?

I seriously (no joke) have to read your posts multiple times in order to have a slight idea of what you could mean... And obviously you don't get anything of what I am saying.... Shocked Confused

    Okay, last try:
Mine is a MY17 there are lot's of obvious hints to that. (Most obvious of them are TFT dash and the Topix entry which literally says "Model year: 2017".)
The N222vX are for MY18. BUT despite that my VIN is within the range of N222vX. That doesn't mean my vehicle is a MY18! One possible explanation for this is, that LR might have started to use some (probably engine) parts prior to MY18. So in other words, some of the last MY17 got the same (engine?) parts they intended to use for MY18. Those parts now seem make the update possible.

Did i not allude to that about 2 pages ago where i said there may have been 35 odd computers adrift, there could well be some cross over, they wouldn't order old stuff in to fit if they thought the new stuff would work,

We have a D5 at work, it is before your VIN by 1 week and is a 2018MY ? it DOES NOT HAVE THE TFT DASH, built the week before yours HSE and has accepted the NV222.3 update ?

I cant "personally" understand why ? your VIN falls 7,000 units within the scope you have laid out that says it is DEFINATELY able to accept the NV222.3 updates yet it is denoted as 2017 ? some of the first MY18 didn't have the TFT dash, none of the S or SE had them and i still think that is the case, my mate has a D5 HSE built DEC 2018 and that is not TFT dash ? it has clocks with needles on.

My D3 was a 57 plate, built sept 2007 and was a 2008 MY vehicle, there are always cross overs but yours is 7,000 units after the cut off for 2017MY so well within the VIN numbers for 2018MY you have given in multiple posts where the quote from TOPIX clearly states 2018 MY

    Shocked

If you read your post above !!!!!!

    Please confirm that it says.........

    Name: N222v2
    Modell:Discovery [LR]
    Model Year: 2018 ????????????????????????????????????
    VIN; 030810 - 079568

Your Vin starts 7,000 units AFTER the start date quoted by yoursef from TOPIX can you not see that ?
Then underneath you contradict your own quote by saying My MY17 VIN starts SALRA2BK9HA0379XX

This is from TOPIX, the 030810 denotes the number the MY18 starts, yours is 0379XX you can argue with yourself all night, if i were you i'd start by taking off your socks and using fingers and toes count how many units AFTER the start number your vehicle is and then continue to argue that yours is 2017 because it doesn't have a TFT dash ? when in reality the reason for this is probably region specific !

Don’t start a discussion about JLR and ‘region specific’, I have had a discussion with them for 9 months as here no one knew what we would get, but all thought it would be the EU specs, which don’t even exist as different for UK, BeNeLux, Germany, ... Was told all would become more ‘inline’ from MY20 Wink
