    Thanks for the replies. Delayed response because I was away...and towing again.

    This trailer was a direct 13 pin fit and the car recognised a trailer was attached, turned off the rear parking sensors, lit up the trailer turn indicators etc. The trailer light test didn't work, but I didn't turn the lights off the automatic setting, so maybe that was why.

    The previous trailer was not LEDs, BTW.

    Having your lights on auto shouldn't effect it. I find i sometimes have to lock then unlock the car to liven up the switches in the rear well i do to operate the towbar.
