Jim,
I don't know . We've no plans to take the D5 out of UK so didn't even consider it.
I have checked (as you asked) and it roams 42 countries - most of Europe and the USA.

Jim,
Link works for me - the SIM we have says "Internet with Legs" 12M / 12Gb Pay as you Go.
As I said - trying to fight through "Three" T&C's is a nightmare.
It works at the moment - that'll do for us!

OK, sorry I thought you were trying to tell me that I will not get free access in Europe.
I might give them a call or web chat to confirm as we spend several weeks a year in France.

Just registered my SIM with Three for next week, had to use online chat to get a password as the system wants to send a text!!
I am not sure if you need to register it, but I can now monitor my usage, etc.
Mac, did yours work straight from the "packet" or did you register?
I didn't register mine it worked straight from the packet

Has anyone had the chance to establish average data usage? By "average" I mean, just leaving the sim to support the incontrol, not having kids hammer the data
I was hoping that a 3gb SIM might be enough.
Cheers

Any more info from owners on how much data you're getting through per month?

I have used 1 Gb in 2 months, mostly the live traffic and a little satellite view and a small amount of tablet use.

I have a U.S. model, it came with an AT&T sim and 3 months free of 3 GB data; after that have to pony up. Though I think my dealer said traffic info alone would be continue to be free for a period of time (i.e. paid by JLR), I'd only have to pay AT&T if we continue to use the hotspot feature. I have to confirm that's the case.

Maybe the system is configured differently for the USA?
In the UK you have to have a valid data sim or a data connected phone for traffic info.

Maybe. Though in looking at the account I had to create for the car (at myconnectedcar.att.com) it sure looks like I have to add payment info or link it to an existing AT&T wireless account for it to continue to function for any data. I see nothing about traffic being a separate entity, so maybe it is the same.
My wife already has her phone on AT&T with a mobile shared plan, so I'll likely just add the D5's SIM to that and pay the extra $10 per month for another device. Though that seems like a lot for just traffic. :p
