Heated Front Seats
Apologies if this has been covered before, but the dealer is saying my front seats don’t heat up as much as other D5s because mine has the fan blower heating type and not the electric elements fitted to some models..this despite mine NOT having the seat cooling function.
Have to say I’m surprised, but wondered if anyone else has this variant ?
They showed me a screen print showing both seats gearing to 50c, which is ‘acceptable’ apparently, but I still find them poor compared to other D5s, and pretty much every other car I’ve been in with heated seats inc D2, D3 and D4.
First world issue I know, and at least they work to a fashion, but still annoying in a £70k car.

Never heard of that but doesn't mean it isn't true. I have the cooled and heated seats but the heating isn't done with the blower it is done with a heating mat, how do I know this, with the cooling you can feel the effect of the fan, with the heating there isn't that effect.

I don't think the heated seats in our D5 work as well as the ones in or previous D4.

For me the lower temperature in first position is better.
In the F-Pace and the F-Type, and the D3 it got far to warm.
Now I can leave it on in 1st and be comfortable.
Never use "2" of "3"...
You do know you have more then one step ?

Can anyone confirm if they have seats that blow warm air, or is it as Russell says that seat heating always uses the electric mat?
I suspect it’s the latter, and the dealer is mistaken..
Thanks

Using our 7 year old Auris on recent frozen mornings reminded me how bloody slow the LR heated seats are. I’ve got a heated/cooled Lux. I’d say the Auris heats up in one third the time, maybe even one quarter.
Miss the heated steering wheel though!

PS. I do think maybe they use the fans to blow warm air. I’ve been trying to work it out. Definitely some airflow, but is it just convection. Not sure.

If you have the seatpack with ventilated chairs then heating and cooling are by fan...

I don’t have cooling, and all D5 seats have perforations, so still don’t know if it’s fan or mat ...?

I am 99% sure you have fans for heating. Want to be sure ?
- sit in the car with the engine runnig, car safely parked;
- switch heating co-driverseat to MAX;
- switch AC OFF ;
Strike a match and hold it about 5cm from the backrest and/or seat.
If there is an airstream from a fan, you will see the flame move away/with the stream..
Do not ignite your seats..

i have a MY17 and the fans are only for cooling as far as I can tell. the heat is most certainly a mat and it's freaking hot for me. if you stick your head down underneath I think you can hear the fan if it's cranked. try isolating it to one section.

Ive got heating and cooled seats.
Heating is by a conductor mat in the seat no fans going
Cooling is by a fan that blows climate air up through the seat perforations
The heating is only on the centre of the seat squab and bank, on the lux you can choose to heat the back, squab or both together
