2019 Discovery Td6 HSE Corris Grey

    Greetings

Hello folks. Just moved to a D5 after many years of previous model Discovery ownership.
Car looks great but sadly did not come with a handbook of any sort and I’m kinda screwed.
I’ve read through heaps of threads and cannot, for the life of me understand the terminology because I simply don’t have a clue what’s being referred to due to not having a handbook so you guys are gonna have to help me out, please be patient.🙄

Can somebody please advise how I delete the previous owners details from the screen so I can personalise the car and remember, you’re gonna have to use very basic language as I simply don’t have a scooby?
Also, what’s this App that I hear about and do I need it? ( told you I don’t have a clue )

Cheers + thanks in advance for help with this 3 ton paperweight which drives great but keeps calling me Jonny.😂

Wolfpack - That is very greatly appreciated.

My son has kindly configured the car now, not got a clue how he did it but it’s now done and no longer calls me Jonny. Can I ask, what’s this other app that folk keep referring to and do I need it?
It’s a 2019 HSE btw, if that helps.
Gotta say, there’s a huge technology leap from the D4 to the D5.

Every thing (almost) you need to know is online here: https://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/model/...nt/1657614

The days of paper manuals and service books are gone.

The app is the land rover remote app here: https://www.landrover.com/market-selector/...e-app.html

If it's a 2019, you'll have the InControl navigation rather than the later PiviPro, which means you can also plan your journeys on your phone or PC and send them to the car navigation (unfortunately this is something they didn't include with the later PiviPro systems). Detals are here: https://www.landrover.here.com/

Using the remote features will require a working data SIM and a current subscription to the services from LR (can be purchased online).

    MY2026 D5 Metropolitan D350 - on order......
    MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - current, MY2019 D5 HSE SD6 - sold

Ha ha, I’m still around, retired these days from mainstream employment but busier than ever working for myself now, at my pace.😂

    Hope you’re well Brian?

    Hi Narpy
    Welcome to the Disco5 forum.

I recognise your name from the Disco3 forum, which I joined 2 months short of 20 years ago, just after I purchased a new Discovery 3. I found the Disco3 forum extremely useful which contributed to me keeping that vehicle for over 19 years before buying a Discovery 5 last September 2024.

I trust you enjoy owning and driving a Discovery 5 and find being a member of the Disco5 forun interesting and beneficial.

Hi Zig, yeah I was a regular contributor over there for quite some time back in the day.

The jury is still out regarding the D5. It has so many features I’m kinda bamboozled by it all at the moment, there’s features on that thing that I’m confident I’ll never need nor use but it’s mostly user error that’s causing me uncertainty, I simply don’t know what I’m doing. For example, I’ve had a mare today with the cruise control. Damn thing keeps starting something called “Lim” and won’t set cruise speed and I’ve also noticed this lane positioning feature is terrible. Dash goes red on one side and I’m not sure it attempts to steer back by itself. Frightened the bejeezus out of me but again I think it’s just user error and getting familiar with these features.
Lane assist, so far, not impressed.
Cruise control, so far, not impressed.
Tyre pressure monitoring, so far, not impressed.
Start stop, If I had my way, I’d rip it out, throw it in a skip and never miss it. Utterly useless feature. How do I permanently turn this off?

If there was a handbook, I’d read it and get a better understanding but being a bloke I think I’d rather learn through messing with it.

Gonna be fitting roof bars + rails and using the existing trims so watch out for a How-To regarding reusing the old trims that you’re supposed to throw away and spend the value of a small property buying replacements. Not happening. I’ve got a reputation as a tight northern bar steward to maintain and will not be throwing anything out that can be reused. Laughing

Welcome to the dark side mate Mr. Green

Looks like you've pressed the speed limiter (LIM) instead of the cruise control. Cruise control works fine on the dual carriageways or motorways and you activate/deactivate it by just pressing the button on the steering wheel.
Your 2019 posh-boy Disco is a bit newer than mine so there's a few differences in the steering wheel button placement and as far as I know...options and settings....so I'll try to avoid adding any confusing info.

As for Lane keep assist...fine if you like that sorta thing... but it was the first thing I disabled (along with all the other driver aids) after I picked the car up. You can access the settings from the centre dash 'driver assistance' settings. You access that menu from the steering wheel options selector.

The stop/start...just get into the habit of pressing the button on the bottom right of the centre panel every time you start up. It's become an automatic thing with me, even though I know how to physically disable it....but that's getting into mucking about with your car territory that I'm uncomfortable with sharing on a general owners forum.
There is a LR customisation place that'll reprogram the ECU to always remember if it's been set to off or not...but it'll cost you £100 just to have that little option added. I'll add the link below anyway as they do other (mostly expensive) customisation options that may be of interest to someone with more disposable income than common sense...

    https://www.lr-chip.co.uk/car/discovery-5-...activation

TPMS is fine...it's only there to let you know if any of the tyres drop below 30psi, otherwise, you shouldn't notice it.

Apart from the obvious stuff...and having come over from a D4 myself...most of it isn't that complicated once you get a handle on where the bits and bobs are and what they do.
Bar the electronic menu stuff and a few more options on the centre screen, it's not really that different from the D4. Just press some buttons and see what lights up...and upgrade your Gap IID tool to the G4 version if you have one. It's handy on the D5 Wink

Atque in perpetuum, frater. Ave atque vale
