I can log into the web based site ok…but the same credentials have stopped working on the app.
It just refuses to recognise me. TBH it was crap anyway! The web based one is torture enough when using an iPad but the app was always a mess.
On the subject of sim expiry, how can you establish if it’s “expired” ? I still have a shed load of GB available shown ….but can’t see any reference to when it /if it expired.

LR are talking utter tosh.
Can only agree though unsure of how to progress if they are telling me the computer says no….

tbh I have no idea but tried to google on the web browser and it didn’t work. With the new SIM fitted I can now browse (not that I would) and a route I have put in using the web planner has gone across to the car.
The dashboard also shows the 4G icon but not sure if that’s the inbuilt SIM or my new one.

The data SIM only has a bearing on syncing IF there is no other method of internet connection available.
I tried to create a journey on the APP…..it wouldn’t accept either my email address or password.
Went to the In Control website and logged in with the same credentials.
Planned a route for tomorrow and it said it synced ok.
Went out to the car. Switched off the data sim.
Then logged into my account using the same credentials
The route immediately synced using the house based wifi.
In the recent past, I failed to sync routes when away from home. The Sim was switched on …so I am guessing the SIM card is no longer active despite having unused data.

Strange that the Bling Barge won't let me log into my account using the house WiFi, it still insists that I insert a data SIM into the slot. Even my In Control account won't let me log in to update maps or plan routes etc...tells me I have to first sync the car using a SIM card. May be because I've never done it or set the initial nav account settings on the car even once...
I just bought a 2 year 5Gb data sim for £25 on Amazon so I can at least faff around with all this stuff...It's with 3, not a network I've used before so it may be hit and miss up here in the frozen north...and I'm assuming my o2 phone won't have issues connecting with it either when I use the Bling Barge as a hotspot...
The 6 month o2 unlimited data sim I bought last year when I first got the car was £65...I didn't need unlimited data of course, hell...I don't really need a sim card at all if I'm honest...but, keeping up with the Jones's and all that

Just as an update...that data SIM I got with the 3 network doesn't get a signal at all up here...drove all the way around the island...not a single bar appeared. Seemingly, 3 was OK until last year when their dish blew off the mast. They didn't bother to replace it.
My own fault, I should have checked
So, I've returned it and ordered a 5GB 2 year multi-network SIM for £25 that'll use the strongest signal from either of the 4 main networks...which up here is either Vodaphone or o2. My phone is on an o2 business acount, has been for years and I've had no issues with the network...can't get 5G until I head over on the ferry to Kirkwall...but 4G is good enough for some Land Rover maps considering it's highly unlikely I'll ever use the onboard nav software anyway...it's just as an experiment.

Another update...
New sim installed, car has an internet connection...still can't log in to my LR nav account on the centre screen. Do I need to disable the wifi connection or something?
I'm stumped...so I guess I'm back to not ever being able to use the onboard nav option...can't log in on the car, can't download map updates from the LR nav site because the car isn't logged in
Thank goodness for Google maps and Android Auto...

Surly you need the connectivity switched on to do any downloading. What about parking near the house and trying to connect to home wifi from the car?

I did the car software updates via the house wifi...but this nav thing just won't let me sign in, either with the wifi connection or using the sim card in the car. Every time I try to sign in, it asks me to make sure the car has an internet connection and won't progress beyond that
It's not like I'll ever use the onboard nav anyway, I only went through the palaver of buying a sim card to test it...
Connectivity settings show me I have a 4G connection with the onboard sim card...still can't sign in.

I thought the 2017 model only supported 3G? Could that have any bearing?

You could have hit the nail on the head...although I've no real idea since I've never used the onboard nav stuff even once. My phone automatically connects via Bluetooth Android auto as soon as I get in so my nav services are all through Google maps...been that way since I first got the car...
But surely the car would still have an internet connection via the sim card even if it only uses 3G? It certainly tells me in the connectivity settings that it's connected to o2, although the 4G icon on the screen is more than likely my phone signal and not the car. Perhaps the Android Auto is interfering with it in some way?
It's not like I can pop off to Amazon and buy a 3G sim these days...
I mean...the nav function still works, even without the sim card. I just can't use the route planner either from my LR Here account or via the app...it also won't live update the onboard nav map with traffic etc because the car won't let me sign in.
Like I said though, I've never once used it

Are you using the same username and password for both the JLR registration AND the navigation?
Something in the back of my mind vaguely reminds me that at one time I have problems similar to this and the answer was in the username being used. In fairness I don’t think it used the error message
no internet connection so it may be something different.
As I say it’s very hazy in the old brain but I think I either changed to different username/ passwords for the the two functions….or harmonised them. Sorry can’t be more helpful.
Although we don’t tend to use all these functions, it’s only fair they should work, when they were after all included in the cars purchase price.

Same username and password for both, but it's definitely the car end that has the issues...the screen doesn't say there's no internet connection, it just doesn't do anything at all after I enter my username and password and press the 'sign in' button.
Before I fill in my username and pasword, it does tell me to make sure the car is connected to the internet...but the connectivity settings show me that it is. I've kinda given up on it...but I'll try disabling Android auto by removing the dongle and see if that works. It could be that throwing a spanner in the works. Worth a try anyway.
I did see an option somewhere in the car settings that gives the option of chosing Android auto or InControl to access certain features...it could even be that setting...if I can remember where I saw it

I thought it came up automatically on screen as an option when you attach a new device.
You might find removing the sim and attaching a new device (phone on usb cable) it might “surprise” the system into seeing something new…and give you the option again.
That said I am surprised it’s not in the > Connectivity > Phone > Smartphone Integration menu. (It’s peeing down here so not going out to car to check if my memory has failed me and there’s no such option

)
