    Understanding Pivi Pro Connectivity

    Hi everyone

I'm abroad at the moment and am mostly accessing the Internet via an old phone with has a French Orange esim installed which gives me 100 GB of data and calls for £35, which my wife and I access by Hot Spot onto our normal phones. This works great until we get in the car and our normal phones attach themselves by WiFi to the Pivi Pro and won't connect to the Hot Spot, and so have to use my Personal restricted roaming allowance for Google Maps and listening to the radio.

Is it not possible just to connect my personal phone via Bluetooth and still connect via WiFi to the Hot Spot?

Probably, but you won't be able.to use Android Auto/ Carplay because these use the WiFi connection to your phone. Just disable the WiFi in the car's settings so it doesn't connect to your phone. You should still be able to get a Bluetooth connection for calls.

This is precisely my bug-bear with the system too. I use an old iPhone with an unlimited data sim in it, which the kids hotspot too to stream movies, but then I can't connect to it for my Apple CarPlay data etc too.

I wish the MY23.5 had retained the sim card slot my MY18/19 (forget which) had, where I used to plonk a data sim and somehow it all just worked.
