Any idea how to get the screen back on?

Mine did that once... I found this tip which makes sense:

To reset the black center screen on a Discovery 5, press and hold the media power button (the central volume knob) until the screen goes blank and the brand logo appears. This should complete the reset process.

Nice one Moley. I went out to the car after about 2 hours and normal service was resumed but I’ll try the screen reset when it happens again, because I know it will.
It’s the second time it’s blanked out on me.😩

I'm just wondering if I can update my original D4 style keyfob to the later model UWB one. Not sure if the technology is just in the key electronics or if it needs a UWB key receiver in the car to work.

I can buy a cheap fob on Ebay and program it with the IID tool...I suppose I could always just spend a few quid to try it out and see if the car will accept one of the UWB fobs...it'll need a CCF edit via the IID tool for the BCM module...but outside of that, I've never heard of it being done.

If the key module on the car needed replaced...plus new keys, it would cost over £1500 as a rough ballpark figure so not really worth considering.

It's both the car and key that are different. With the UWB, the car actually times how long it takes to communicate with the key so it can work out how far away the key is even if a thief is relaying the signal through a repeater to increase the signal strength.
