[quote="Narpy"]Front end transformation just about complete now. Have done the black bonnet lettering and the air scoop inserts today also in black to compliment last weeks grille change.

Hi Narpy.. where did you get the air inserts from and are the two teeth separate from the kidney shaped grille piece. I want the two horizontal teeth but don't want to remove the grille part.
    Cheers

The air-scoop fins come as a 3 part kit... 2 fins and the kidney shaped air-scoop insert. You can't buy them separately as far as I know. I've never had to fit them as the Bling Barge came with them already fitted...

I got 90% of my accessories and add-ons from these guys, they're very good. If it can be stuck into or onto a Land Rover...they've probably got it and at a much better price than official LR parts. They have lots of how to fit videos as well. Can't recommend them highly enough Thumbs Up

I've still got this to do on the Bling Barge...been too windy these last few days to do an outdoor job and the workshop is full of tractors and Disco 2 bits Neutral

Check eBay for sellers, there’s loads of options. I bought an after market kit for under Ā£30 and it looks OEM, very easy to install too. The two teeth are indeed separate so you don’t have to use everything if you don’t wish.šŸ‘šŸ»
I used this eBay seller but there’s plenty to choose from: https://ebay.us/m/2yMZ0T

Ordered some of these today...had to buy 2 sets because of the rear air con though Neutral

They're just push on things, no adhesive strips or anything to faff around with...

The only problem I keep finding with Ebay sellers is that a fair few of them refuse to post to the Scottish islands...No idea why, the postie still passes my door every day same as anywhere on the mainland.

Consequently, I sometimes have to pay a couple of quid extra for after market accessories and the like than I would buying from some enterprising Chinese dude on Ebay. I don't pay anything near LR official accessories prices of course, so I don't mind a few quid here and there... as long as it's good quality after market stuff and not some cheap plastic tat.

The guys at PowerfulUK sell proper quality gear and they test fit everything they sell, usually including a how to fit video on the store page. They have free shipping too, which is a bonus.

The Ebay sellers island exclusion thing is kinda unique to me of course...but it's Censored annoying all the same Rolling Eyes

Fitted the door bump strips on the Bling Barge this afternoon...a few more black plastic bits added. Still far too windy to attempt the bonnet vinyl though. I'll finish replacing the injector seals on the old TD5 D2 this afternoon and get it out of the workshop to make some space. 2 injectors to do, refit the camshaft, do the valve clearances and button it up...job done Thumbs Up

Back on topic though...the Bling Barge Before adding the new black plastic bits...

    And after...

Shiny blueness added to the heater/AC knobs front and back...kinda matches in with my snazzy blue footwell and door card LED's. The Bling Barge doesn't have the centre console mood lighting that's included on the HSE Lux models...or I'd have that blue as well...

Didn't bother with a before and after since everyone already knows what the OEM chromed plastic heater knobs look like. Having had 8 years of wear and tear, a couple of mine were looking a bit tatty. The cheap chrome coating had worn off in places and the grey plastic underneath was starting to show through...so the blue anodised aluminium push on covers certainly look a lot tidier... Fashionable and bijoux even Cool

Fitting: It took longer to open the packet than it did to push them all on...

A couple of big boxes arrived from China this morning with the modular boot rack kit inside...

Unfortunately, gale force winds prevent any tinkering on the Bling Barge today, it's proper vile out there. I'd have to shove a couple of housebricks in my pockets to stop me being blown over to Norway Neutral

Went to fit the boot rack this afternoon as the wind has died down to a dull roar and isn't blowing my poor hens about like noisy confetti when they poked their heads out of the byre...

Well...I would have fitted it but the enterprising Chinese dudes sent me the wrong kit... Censored

Not really pointless bling...but a rather appropriate high quality vinyl sticker Cool

As an update on the Modular boot rack kit, the enterprising Chinese dudes sent the proper D5 conversion kit out...still with the completely useless D4 installation instructions unfortunately. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I went about trying to install the thing, since even with no installation guide, it's not rocket science...there were a few fitting issues... to say the least.

The bottom mounting plates didn't fit around the C pillar, the top grab handle mounts also didn't fit as the original T30 torx bolts reused in the installation weren't long enough to refit the grab handles along with the mounting brackets.

Returned the damned thing for a refund. I could have re-engineered the bottom mounting brackets to make them fit...since a bit of heating and bending isn't rocket science either...and found some longer T30 torx bolts for the grab handle brackets...but for the asking price of £350...I wasn't about to do their job for them.

Pics below showing the bottom mounting bracket...straight edge where it should have been curved or moulded to fit around the C pillar. The brackets blocked off the side cubby box lids and refused to seat properly despite what it showed in their advertisement. Didn't take any pics of the grab handle top mounts...I was at the swearing and tool throwing stage by then Censored

Honest advice? Steer clear of this Chinese manufactured modular boot kit unless you have some basic engineering skills and tools and are prepared to use them...it doesn't fit out of the box. Neutral

    Edit:

The manufacturers/suppliers have since added this image to the advertisement...seemingly, if you have rear aircon with the rear quarterlight vents on the C pillar, the kit (as supplied) doesn't fit. Pity that image wasn't there and there was no mention of rear aircon incompatibility on the original ad, it would have saved me wasting my time and money Censored

Mine has the 3 zone aircon with the rear quarterlight vents, the internal plastic moulding on the C pillar is different...saying that, the second image with the big red X shows a totally different lower mounting bracket that (apparently) does fit with the C pillar vents...unless that image has been photoshopped, why wasn't I sent those ones with the kit instead?
