Nice one Moley, thanks for that.
I’ll go down the “ghost” route and see what they have to say for themselves.
I can catergorically confirm with two trackers and 3 cameras, that my car never moved on the date in question so it will potentially get quite interesting if they become insistent.
I’m gonna keep that info up my sleeve for the time being as I don’t believe it’s up to me to prove I wasn’t involved and more the claimant who should prove I was involved.
Really disappointed that the insurance company registered a claim against me without speaking to me first though.
They’ll have to do some crawling to right that wrong.
You will need to get your insurer to confirm in writing that no claim has been registered to you once this is sorted.
Some years ago the wife lost her spectacles. I rang the insurers and (in those days) they said they would post a claims form. Next morning the wife found the spectacles and I re phoned the insurers. I confirmed that they hadn’t posted the paperwork yet …so I told them not to bother.
The next year I got a notification that I had 2 claims in the year and my premium was going up.
Now I had one claim for a carpet that was damaged but not two !
Yes they had the spectacles on there as the 2nd.
I argued that the claim wasn’t progressed …they didn’t even send out paperwork! They just said that initiating a claim was sufficient for it to go on my record….the outcome was irrelevant.
Make sure you get a written retraction.

Shouldn't a protected no claims bonus deal with that though? I'd have to check the small print on it...but I will be looking closer at that option to see if it does what I only think it does.
If it doesn't do what it says on the tin, even though it's only pennies to add it to your policy, it'll be getting binned, I already pay the shysters more than enough for their legally enforced licence to print money.

This has certainly been an endorsement for GPS tracking in general and, strangely enough, the Land Rover InControl Remote app with it's journey logging and GPS tracking figuring in there too
Glad you're recoving from the dreaded lurgy too, Ian. Noticed you'd been quiet on here for a while

Thanks Moley. It’s a pretty terrible strain that’s doing the rounds at the moment and it took 3 weeks to shake off. Fortunately I suppose, being unwell prevented me from using my car and the tracking info is quite compelling.
Incidentally, I coughed that much, I put my back out.😩
I have offered to submit my date stamped driveway cam footage once the third party advises what time this accident supposedly occurred, as you can easily see my D5 parked up all day.
They have advised which town the accident occured in and I can confirm I’ve never even been there.🤣

Interesting case, and one wonders what the outcome would have been if you did not have the evidence to prove you were at home. For my Discovery i would have the incontrol logs, but for my other car i would not be able to prove i wasnt there in a similar scenario.

I suspect that in most cases, that lack of vital information is what those insurance fraudsters rely on.
Thwarted (in part) by a Land Rover phone app, there's a turn up for the books
