broke down today
Got into my Discovery SDV6 today, going to get some diesel. Got to the bottom of the road and it came up on the dash "off road height selected", i didn't do it so pushed the button to lower it back down. It happened again, then all hell broke loose. Every light on the dash came on, along with the EDC unavailable, automatous braking unavailable, sensors unavailable ect ect. So i pulled over and it said select Neutral to start, (it was running). Switched off locked the car waited and attempted to restart. It said smart key not recognised, place it by the steering column. Anyway got it started and off i went, then the whole centre console went off, terrain response, suspension, media centre, i lost my indicators, dash lit up, and the left hand side of the steering wheel went off.
Managed to get to my sisters, locked it up and left it for 15 minutes, went out to the car and it was dead except for the central locking. So i Sent for the AA, He thought the alternator was the likely culprit, so jump started it and did some checks.
Alternator checked out ok, battery checked out ok, no warning lights, did a diagnostic reading and all clear. So we were left scratching our heads. He took it around the block, checked terminals were tight and nothing shown as being off. So it's basically run it and see. So far it's been faultless again all day.
Anyone else had anything like this at all ?

Blimey, sounds like something, somewhere has got wet and causing problems but it’s honestly, anyone’s guess.
Reading the codes may not help much either but clearing them would be a good starting point, then at least you can see what comes back if it reoccurs.🤷🏻♂️

I have checked if there are any outstanding recalls, and there's nothing showing. Where is the earth stud i should be looking at ?
Thank you

It's where the battery negative connects to the body in the boot.
Some vehicles needed it replacing because of an intermittent bad connection which causes random faults in multiple systems.

There also an earth stud hidden under the offside front wing. A particularly daft place to put one as it corrodes with all the crap off the road.
These aren’t covered by the LR warranty.
Don’t ask me how I know! 🙄
I am so looking forward to replacing LRs best pile of 💩 by Match/April next year.

Will give that one a try as well. That would make sense as well, as i had gone through quite a lot of water on that side, the night before.
I have fitted a new battery now, and coded it with my new icarsoft CR pro +, and it did do the job quite quickly. I checked the original battery this morning, and according to my tester it was showing 22% and no longer serviceable. However it started up and drove perfectly, even the stop start worked.
But we will see how we go with it moving forward.
Now while i was replacing the battery i saw something that was a little concerning. Not just to my car but to others as well. Part of the loom, where it goes under the rear section of floor is very tight against a metal frame. It had worn through the black protective outer wrap, and although not worn through any cables, had started. I have managed to re wrap and move the loom slightly out of the way of the frame, so should be ok now. But it is worth checking for the rest of you guys. I will put a separate post on about it with pictures, so more people will see it,
