    Pre paid. £28 in Argos.

You won’t use more than this in 2 years. I was using it past the date w/o problem.

Now got a non Land Rover vehicle with a built in SIM and a good monthly allowance for life curtesy of the manufacturer.

    I’ll never go back. 👍

What are these for? I assumed they just use data for the maps, but my phone does that? Unless its for the annoying news thing i cant remove Very Happy but im looking at getting an Ottocast so i can have Youtube / Netflix etc.

Can't use a 4G/5G sim card in the Bling Barge...being a 2017 model, the telemetry module is 3G only...which is now discontinued. WiFi works fine though and I can use my phone as a hotspot if I need an internet connection in the car. The onboard nav maps still work but with no live updates or traffic info...which makes it kinda redundant.

To be fair, I've never once used the onboard software for navigation or music etc, etc...besides all the pointless trial and error trying to make it work.

My phone via an Ottocast dongle for wireless Android Auto works just fine...

The perplexing thing is that my 2017 car itself, still communicates with iRemote app from my phone with 4/5g. Seems like the on board system isn’t limited to 3G, just the optional SIM card slot ?

Could well be that since I've got 4G/5G icon on the main screen when my phone's connected as well... and the LR remote app works fine.

I've never once got a sim card to work, I've tried a couple of data sims. Since it's just for connectivity for the onboard maps etc, it's never particularly bothered me. Like I said, my phone + the wifi connection does everything it covers in any case.

The only thing I don't have by not using the onboard nav is the directional icons appearing on my HUD...but to be fair, I don't feel I'm missing anything special.

Mole… my 2017 model gets the traffic details via WiFi.
In Luxembourg we still have 2G&3G (till the end of the) but I managed to kill my SIM card reader.
I have now installed a WiFi router and a 4G dongle so the car connects to the WiFi automatically.
I have seen that if I don’t have that router turned on I don’t get the traffic updates, but when it is on I DO get them.

This would imply that the traffic updates can be received via WiFi and not just via the 3G sim.
