Thought I'd better come and say Hi since the old D4 seems to have morphed into a D5. Been on the D3 forum for years and I'm sure this one will be just as useful.
Quite liking the fact that the fuel gauge doesn't appear to drop as you watch it...well perhaps more slowly than the previous D3 and D4
@Dazz360 Nice colour.....just needs a little bit of mud for contrast
@Mole - as ex D1/D3/D4 - I expect them to be muddy....may take time to learn the rules of the 'Dark Side'
I made the horrible mistake of buying a white one. Unlike my old grey D2 and the equally grey D4 which I had to make muddy on purpose, this one is a pure muck magnet all on it's own...it gets itself muddy even if I just walk past it with my wellies on

Been on D3 in the past but not been active so much in the last decade due to a Shogun doing the work. Had an RRS but it was not a good car todoing 'stuff'.
Had to replace last year and having looked around the D5 seems the best fit so took the plunge and got one last summer. It had a sad demise in September just as LR shut down and it has taken until now to get a replacement with a low range box. So now a D5 owner and have to learn what all the buttons/menus do now. Massage seats! who knew! wasn't like that in the D3 days......
Looking forward to picking your collective brains.
AH - have worked out the new photo system . Different from Disco3! Car at Kintail a few weeks back. Might post a picture of the squashed one if there is an appropriate thread. All I can say is the majority of the passenger safety features worked. Except the door locks.......
Yes - the in laws live in the middle of nowhere there. Nice view - not so good if you need support..... We are in Uig so fellow islanders...... but we have a bridge! That outfit looks at least as reliable as a Land Rover.....
It's about as capable as a Land Rover off-road too... being 2WD, it has a driven wheel on the sidecar...and a mechanical reverse gear. It can carry 250Kg of camping kit plus the pair of us with no effort either.
I took the machine gun mount off the sidecar and replaced it with a swivel spotlight for Mrs Mole to play with, I thought she'd do less damage with that instead of an MG42.
I used to go via Uig for the ferry when we lived up on South Uist, it was always a nice drive up from the Kyle (before and after the bridge was there) and heading up around the edge of the Black Cuillins. We always stopped off at Broadford for a cuppa on the way up.
Skye is a beautiful island and one of my favourite places on the planet. The odd thing about living in Orkney after so many years spent in the outer Hebrides...there's no Gaelic spoken at all...it's all very Norse and full of bloody Vikings, I still find that strange.
