As if I needed any more convincing that LR are really taking the Censored with their parts prices. A set of OEM rear brake pads are over £130...that's almost double the price of a set of genuine Brembo, Delphi or Ferodo pads at £70 Laughing

Picked the Bling Barge up off the boat this evening...it's been annoying with it being stuck over in Kirkwall for a whole week for the MOT, I had to borrow my son's BMW x3 to get around... Shocked

I deliberately wore my old Land Rover baseball cap every time I drove it in case the other locals thought it was mine. Laughing

    Rolling with laughter

Next on the list of to-do stuff. I ordered a full set of EBC disks and pads so I can do a decent brake service when they arrive. I'll power bleed the system as well to flush the old fluid out and replace it since I noticed when I checked it with the brake fluid tester, the current fluid is just below borderline % for hydroscopic absorbtion. Thumbs Up

I need to do all the usual swop outs too but at the minute I’m still trying to find time to fix the d3

I normally wouldn't fuss with the brake service right now since my pads are all about 2.5mm or there abouts...but that one advisory... 'Service brake binding but not excessively Nearside Rear'... did my nut in...I'm kinda OCD about always having clean MOT's Laughing

Doesn't seem a year since I posted this thread up...but MOT time again at the end of the month. Weather permitting of course...there's more gales due next week on the test day... so the ferries may be off.

I dropped a silly advisory for a slightly sticky rear caliper last year which irritated me no end. Since then I've replaced the disks and pads all round for EBC after market, power bled and flushed the brake fluid, done the usual full oil and filter servicing and checked underneath poking at all the bushes and bearings...just in case.

Hopefully a clean bill of health again this year...the only physical fault I have on the Bling Barge is an annoying intermittent fault with the reversing camera...which I've tracked down to a creased or damaged wire up in the rubber trunking that goes from the boot to the car through a process of elimination. It's not the camera or a fault with the image processing module since they both test OK with the IID tool, the error, when it does appear, comes up as 'insufficient voltage' on that one camera... Some days the camera works fine, I'll open and close the boot a few times, then it doesn't. All the rest of the 360° cameras work perfectly...as do the rear parking and junction warning sensors.

Since the camera image isn't part of the test, I'll get around to tracing the broken/creased wiring and sort it out at my leisure. That said...I really hate intermittent wiring faults. I may yet fling the Bling Barge into the indy 4x4 garage in Kirkwall and get their sparky to sort it out. Neutral

Had a minor drama as the tester drove the Bling Barge onto the ramps at the garage as the airbag warning light wouldn't go out. I mean...all I had done was drive the damned thing from the ferry to the garage...it was fine when I pulled up.

Anyway, since the airbag warning lamp is an instant MOT fail, the tester was a decent sort and offered to run a quick diagnostic, turned out it was the connector under the drivers seat throwing up the error, so, he sorted out the connector, reset the DTC then did the MOT.

He charged me £30 for the quick fix...besides that...clean bill of health for the MOT. Well happy with that. 🫡

He also let me under the car when it was up on the ramp to pull off a dustbin load of kelp and seaweed that had wrapped itself around everything after going around our flooded roads during the storms. Thumbs Up
