    Smartphone Pack for Discovery

I noticed the Smartphone Pack is being offer as an Option, I assume, on the 2018 Discovery. It includes Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. Any thoughts if this will be available as a software update to the 2017 InControl Touch/entertainment system?

    Hi Jeb3

Just checked the UK car configurator and we don't have a smartphone package, nor do we yet have an option on CarPlay. My D5 is still on order and would love to have CarPlay - my wife is on the Land Rover advisory board forum and they have confirmed that they are working on CarPlay, The feedback from forum was to make sure it could be retro fitted to those cars with in control Touch /Touch pro from my 17 onwards. Fingers crossed it can be retrofitted, LR still dragging behind on tech as usual!

    Good luck

Thanks Sw1gs, It is relieving to hear that JLR is planning for it to be compatible with MY17.
Here is the url for the Option page showing the Smartphone Pack, I dont remember how I got to this version of the Discovery configurator. It has no pricing for Options.

That's not what he said - a group of customers that have been invited to comment have asked for it to be available for retrofit. Time will tell.

Another ding on early adopters! I was just invited to the LR Advisory Board, believe me, they are going to hear about Apple CarPlay, the digital dash I can do without, but come on, the entertainment system while more responsive than any LR product I have ever owned is still filled with bugginess, if you can’t provide what much cheaper alternatives offer, then offer a third party solution.

I’d be interested in knowing also. CarPlay is supported by many manufacturers now.

I just played around with the US configurator and there's absolutely no mention of Android Auto or Car Play, nor is there a "smartphone pack" available anywhere I can see. So they're either going to offer it as a software/firmware update, as an update to their InControl Apps (assuming the head unit is already sufficiently enabled), or not at all.

I'm on the advisory board also, and I have been very vocal about it to date. Instead they seem more interested in useless features like incorporating a fitness tracker and related health stats into the car. My response to that was to the effect of, "the only entities in my life who don't judge me are my car and my dogs, and I'm not sure about the dogs sometimes - I already have a smartphone and a watch that do this for me."
