Stop start wont /Customer services
Hi my stop start sopped working a few months ago the dealers (Guy Salmon) on the first vist charged the battery up, much to my disgust, questions like why does a 4 month old need the battery charging fell on deaf ears I was asked if I charge my phone in the car I told them the few milliamps an Iphone draws shouldn't be an issue in a Land rover with at least a 100 amp hour battery and if it was why has land rover put so many charging sockets in the car , next it was because of short journeys I do 20-30,000 a year !!! . Upon collecting the car the next day (due to my work) I told them I had no confidence they had fixed the issue, low and behold I was right. Whilst driving the 15 miles home It never cut in once some fix.
I was booked in a few weeks later for a week 3 days later IT'S FIXED and it was a few weeks later it wasn't
Being somewhat put out I called Land rover customer services (thats a joke )
I told them the problem and said I have no confidence in Guy Salmon.
3 days later I had and email from MY case manager
a week after I first called Land Rover customer services (trades descriptions ??) I emailed for an update.
no response (the automated email doesn't count).
So the next day I called and was fobbed off with your case manger will call you back, which she did
within 30 mins (shocked ) and told me the dealer was unaware of the fault when she rang them , it took abit to get to the bottom of it she had just rung the dealer nothing had been done on the case at all.
She tried to get the dealer to book the car in but earliest is 1st December .

If my Stop/Start stopped working, I'd actually be happy, unless it was because there's some drain somewhere in the system that's killing my battery and preventing the function from working.
Are you sure it's not activating because you're running your climate control in defog/defrost to keep your windows clear?

Start-Stop doesn't work on my MY16 D4 SCV6. Dealer applied similar fix upon first occurrence: charge the start-stop battery. Fault returned, probably because the car mostly does short urban drives (reason we chose petrol). A long journey doesn't fix the fault. Perhaps a depleted charge is enough to create the fault but a service intervention is required to clear it? I don't know.
The fault doesn't bother me except that the start-stop disabled warning light is bright orange in the instrument cluster. The same warning on my RRS digital instrument display is much more discreet.

Stop start
Hi don't get a warning light about the stop start , I can turn the stop start system off and on and get the message to say its been disabled / enable .
I do fairly high mileage but when the stop start system works my average mpg is 3-4 miles better .
But if a car is supplied with air con as standard the battery should be powerful enough to cope.
I know the car has to reach certain parameters engine temp, current draw from electrics etc as it needs to restart the car in an instant .
I would of thought that having been charged by the dealer twice to fix the issue Land Rover would want to resolve this in a timely manner and bring pressure on the dealers .
Looking on the bright side the ad blue will need another top up by the time the dealer can fit me in .

Must admit I can't get on with the stop/start. It always seems to stop just as i'm about to start moving! and if you lift your foot off the brake too fast the car lurches forward!
It's like learning the braking again! Press harder and the stop/start kicks in, a bit lighter and it doesn't - weird!
Unless its a very long queue, I don't think it'll save a great deal of fuel...
I also noticed someone said something about a 'stop/start battery', does that mean that theres a second battery used for this?

If the architecture is anything like the Disco Sport then a reset or update of the gateway module may work. It fixed my Sport (there was a software update available and the module gets reset during this).
Worth an ask...

That is how it is supposed to work, if when braking you ease of the pedal when you are coming to a halt then it will not stop the engine.
Press a bit harder and the engine will stop, It takes a bit of getting used to, but now I brake lightly and if the traffic looks like it it is not moving for a while then I press a bit harder to stop the engine.
If I can see the traffic is about to move then ease off the pedal and the engine will start ready for you to move off.

Also a tug on the steering wheel will re-start the engine. So while waiting at a junction where you need your brakes, you can easily restart and be ready to go.

********Update **************
Finally fixed , Sturgess Leicester fixed the problem in a day , the battery was faulty !! that's all !!!
Guy Salmon Coventry couldn't / wouldn't fix it in 5 days . I wonder why?
Well their loss in the long run .
I hope Land Rover Customer services follow this up but I doubt it .

The stop start on mine isn't working and I had a low battery alarm this morning which is concerning. Is anyone using the ctek adapter available from the shop to top the battery up through the tow electrics? I had one for my D4, will one work on the D5?
