I spoke to someone at LR support about the SatNav about adding back functionality that was provided in the SatNav upon the D4 being the ability to see intermediate motorway junctions and services, and both the time and distance to such.
Whoever’s developing the SatNav software obviously don’t run long distances, as it generally only shows the time of arrival and distance to the destination. Previously it showed intermediate motorway junctions and services and time and distance to such, which is really useful.
I hope someone from LR is watching/listening to its customers, but we all know Gerry et al all like to sit in the great Ivory tower that is G-DEC and state what us mere plebs should adore!
Perhaps Gerry should have asked a better cross-section of LR Discovery owners (I’ve only owned 17) about what they wanted to see. And a full size up and over rear door to shelter from the rain wasn’t one of them!
Agree that the sat nav doesn't seem as good as the D4 certainly true of the SE. However loving the tailgate . But can see it may be a problem in tight spaces.
I’m a diver and the one piece tailgate means I can reach all the way in to access all my dive crap.
However I also have two huge dogs: Bernese Mointain dogs, which are considerably larger than the autocad retriever LR used in their lame video. They loved the tailgate, but perhaps a smaller load bearing tailgate may have been better. When I sit on the electro-plank with my full twin 12L cylinders, that’s 53kg and I’m another 130kg! It’s only a matter of time before the electro-plank breaks.
My doggies heads are up against the roofline because the floor level is so high. I wish the boot floor could be lower, providing greater boot height, or alternatively the roofline raised. And as they are about it 3 independant rear seats of the D4 were far superior to the 60/40thats in the D5.
