Well am glad I was right for once.
I forgot too mention that the 22's were Pirelli Scorpions All Season stock tyres, not summer tyres which I incorrectly stated, oops!
They were not run in, hence all the extra road noise may have dimmed down once the tyres had possibly worn in a bit??
I have found the Pirellis on the D4 were excellent as well. Far better than the Goodyears I replaced them with which wore down at an incredible rate. (Seems you pay more for longer lasting higher quality tyres).
Low profile tyres are usually alot more sticky due too the rubber composition used and heat up quicker, hence grip alot better. I have had Potenzas and Yokohamas on my cars and are excellent tyres, especially for track days.
Yes I definitely agree with the trust bit. Like I said the 2 different wheel sizes made it seem like 2 completely different vehicles. I was alot more cautious whilst driving with the 20's than the 22's.
Mind you it doesnt help me, as am used too driving a saloon car which is lower and handles alot better than the skyscraper
Am sure the D5 would handle like its on rails as the engineers have done their homework. It's just a matter of getting used too the car and knowing it's limits.
Maybe see if you can get a test drive of a demo car with 21/22 inch wheels. I also drove the demo with 21 inch wheels and it was less noisier and quieter than the 22's.
At least if you notice a big difference in the handling, you could always get a bigger set of wheels on ebay
If that's the case I want first dibs on your 20's ok
Ps apologies for the 3 long posts
