Love my 2L and don't find it gutless at all. Plenty of power when needed.
Sure its not as silky smooth or as meaty sounding as the 3L but then it also doesn't suffer from oil dilution and early oil change issues either
If you are a high mileage user (long runs to get the DPF regens working fully) or need to tow a lot of heavy trailers / caravan etc then the 3L is the way to go for sure.
The 2L driven normally can easily give low 40's MPG according to the dash display,

I've got the 3ltr, Given the choice again i would buy the 2ltr.
The 3 is more refined i believe, it feels strong and pulls well, it's silky smooth and sounds nice.
the Oil dilution is in my opinion the major bug bare, had mine changed after only 2 months and was ready again 2 months later. i cant afford to be taking days off work to assist JLR in their own customer based guinnie pig testing, so i'm putting their engineering to the test by seeing if their tollerances can hold out for the advertised 16K miles, i'm already at 13% dilution so in another 13K miles it's either gonna blow or rectify itself.
According to form there's nothing wrong with it ?
So in "Short" buy the 2.0

Drove this 3 ltr today - have to say much preferred it to the 2 ltr - speed of response, 70 - 90 'get up and go' and the sound.
Spoke to the service team about the oil dilution, who recognised the issue, but said in their experience, there were no more problems with the 3 ltr over the 2 ltr

I'll let you know soon how it compares..
We've just handed a 2.0L HSE LUX back after 7 weeks..
Gave it a real good "testing" now waiting for my 3.0L TDV6 to compare.
Ive also had a Disco Sport 2.0L for the last 3 years.
initial comparisons between the D5 and Sport 2.0L was the D5 has been "chipped up" deffo felt a bit quicker to me.
But lets see..
