    Have you tried turning the interior illumination dial on the dash fully down? does that not kill the lights on the roof?

    yes I did and it works for the daytime but nighttime remains lower intensity light on the dimmers according to how you set the interior illumination dial on the dash but even at lowest it remans on and the lights are too strong to be on just to drive passengers to find the reading lights that are in any case stronger in case switched on
