If you are looking at estates, a Mercedes E might be an option, very spacious, exists in all-terrain version as well.

Why go from SUV to a low car ? Its really small in the luggage space.

These are widely underrated. I have the 5 seater and its a great car.

Its FWD, but you really don't notice. And they are cheap. But soon there

will be a new one. So buy new with a huge discount and keep it 6 yrs,

or buy one 5 yrs old that will not depreciate extra due to the mode change..

    BMW tourer 7 seats.

I presumed you needed a big car. But this BMW also comes as a 5-seater,

then named 'active tourer' . You still sit a bit higher, unlike the 5-series where

you sit lower then any average car. Then new tourer is about to make its

presentation. It comes in a variety of petrol and diesel versions.

We have the modest 216 manual, as a shopping trolley. First I thought to

remove the downtune [its the same engine as the 218i], but to my surprise

    the 109hp are enough !

Basicly the body is the same as the X1, effectively inside hardly smaller then the X3 !

The price is only a fration of the price of the X-series..

You want AWD ? The hybrid has electric driven rearwheels. If you do not drive in

EV mode only, you drive more economically. If you do use EV, once the electricity runs

out it starts charging and the fuel consumption gets quite high.

    Ha Ha Ha
    Why not my friend.
My commute is 3 miles when I go in , 3 miles back for lunch and repeat in afternoons.
If I don’t commute the woods are 10 miles each way so the hybrid will make sense.
If we travel north or south then we’d probably use the 2 litre petrol until we can charge up.
Got to give it some serious thought as it’s just a bit more than the 520d in same clothes but looking a good contender Very Happy
