I just checked by contract for mine ordered in August, which states the following
"at any time cancel the contract by notice in writing to the Customer if the manufacturer ceases to make the Goods or if the manufacturer ceases to supply the Goods to the UK market or in the event that the manufacturer is unable or refuses to accept the order for the Goods or no longer supplies the Goods to the specification ordered by the Customer. Upon such cancellation any deposit paid by the Customer shall be returned"
So it does look like they have the ability to cancel My22 orders if they stop manufacturing or refuses to accept orders , then offer a MY23 as a replacement.

Well not so sure based on that. They talk about unable to supply to ordered specification but almost nothing has changed in MY23 that wouldn’t make it possible to supply you with the vehicle you ordered. Price change isn't a reason for them to back out of the order.

Cannot imagine they would seriously be so blinkered to cut their nose off and return deposit …for you to go and buy a Merc or Beemer.
I wonder what their response would be if you float the idea YOU are cancelling the order due to protracted (unreasonable?) leadtime to the original agreement. A bit of negotiation might get the MY23 at the MY22 price?

Have you tried to order a Merc or BMW lately, their wait times are currently longer then LR and the dealers actually say we cannot confirm any order time or spec until it is in the dealership.
I looked before I brought my new MY21Discovery, i was lucky to get offered two cancelled orders by my dealer the last week in July and picked up a very nice Disco on 2nd August.
Namib Orange 1st Edition with black roof and wheels.
Privacy, tow bar, drive pack, surround camera, heated front & rear seats, auto dim door mirrors, side steps, remote Pro, RSE, arm rest fridge dash cam front and rear.

Yeah they all have problems at the moment and cannot blame LR for late delivery sadly, it’s just how the world is. They’d be foolish though to look at short term profits vs longer term brand loyalty with their customer base. I think most males are making a very nice margin currently though by prioritising their higher margin cars over lower ones. Less overall revenue but greater profits should tie them over until this all resolved itself.

Just phoned up to ask about my car and apparently it's being built at the factory, so they expect it'll be about 2 weeks until it arrives in the UK. They need it for a few days to prep it and hopefully fit my Dash Cam if they have one of those also. Fingers crossed then should be able to pick up later end of this month.

I am amazed yours is being built. I was told last week that mine is currently unslotted even though it was supposed to be built at the beginning of October.
Are you still having all the extras you have ordered?

I'm amazed as well considering all the posts on this forum around delays, my delivery date hasn't changed once. I mean it's longer than I've had in the past for delivery in normal times but BMW's are normally 3 months roughly so this being around 5 isn't all that bad. Of course, I guess I ordered just in time as not much beyond when I did they starting slipping the dates no end.
No one has told me that any options are not available or won't be on the car. I'm unlikely to accept it to be honest if it's missing anything, I wanted a fully loaded one so it better be just that.

About not accepting it - WBAC is still quoting several thousand more than we paid for it, so for us so far it is better than money in the bank!

That's madness but goes to show when you have a delay getting a new one these things can happen. Happens in the tech world when the new shiny comes out, they haven't made enough and people ebay them for way more than they cost new. Just not something I'm aware has ever happened in the car world before, least not in my lifetime.
UPDATE: Thinking about what you said I imagine it still wouldn't work out in my case. You tend to get sod all for your options so a Disco with most but not all of them still isn't going to get a good trade in even in these crazy times.

I was told today that my order will now be a MY23 and the price will be protected, but when I questioned the dealer about some of the things the MY23 HSE Dynamic doesn't have as standard such as space saver spare I was told I will have to pay an extra £150. He said it doesn't have third row electric seats or gesture tailgate as standard. Not that I am that bothered about those, but how can he say its price protected when I will have to pay extra even for front fog lights? The opening line on the email was I have good news for you.

Hi BigCol
So you ordered yours in March 2021 and now you are looking at a 2023. When do 2023 models start to ship.

I was told that MY23 cars will be built from the beginning of next year but I find that hard to believe.

I don’t get why yours is so far out vs mine which I ordered after you. Something seems fishy like the dealer or Land Rover is swapping build slots around with other orders so they can build other cars earlier.
Don't think I really noticed any bonuses from the MY23 vs MY22 to be honest. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto is there but that's an over the air update to Pivi Pro. You can get the gloss black roof for free vs the £900 it was before but hardly a big deal to be honest. Otherwise as you say it's them cutting out features which they can that require parts they are likely struggling to source.
I'd demand a cut in price if they are wanting to cut features out of your car that you'd planned to have. I guess considering cars are hard to come by they might not budge but ultimately they are unable to deliver what you ordered.
I'll still be worried on mine that when I turn up there's going to be features missing. "Matrix LED's? Ah yes we ran out of those so slotted in some halogens for you free of cost".

Interesting, not a peep from my dealer other than it looks like April. No mention of a MY23
My brother in law bough virtually the same car as mine, be it a different colour a day after mw. This was from a different dealer so the race is on to see who gets theres first and what spec it will be?
