Total loss of SavNav and voice control

    Dear All,

Well it all started off so good yesterday morning, when nearly everything worked in the D5 at the same time!
I've had my D5 updated to the latest and greatest firmware updates and apart from the voice recognition now being somewhat deaf I set off under SavNav guidance and having limited voice control.

However I needed to fill up at a service station and whilst doing so the tailgate opened!? I was sure that I hadn't been swinging my leg close to the gesture control sensor so just closed it again.

After paying though and starting the car, "Navigation not found" came up. OK so a little slow, but odd since I was already under SatNav guidance prior to filling up and I didn't take that long filling up.

I set off again, and no matter how long an interval, even stopping, turning off the ignition, waiting and then starting again it's never come back. Not even after being at my customer site all day and returning after a long period turned off did anything come back to life.
Fuming I tried to voice dial, speaking very slowly and clearly (nature speech processing did work before the latest update!!) but it would even turn on to listen to my commands!

So to update, I came back yesterday, and called both my dealership and ultimately Landrover customer services. They didn't know why but as a coincidence my car's in for it's 16000 1st service on Friday and now it seems a lobotomy as well.
Since yesterday no matter what I do it still has no SatNav or Voice Control.
Roll on Friday to see what they can do. My fear is vey little!!! Sad

The D5 might not be half a bad car if only LR sort out their appalling software!
    a
It would be great to have what is supposed to work then they need to ask people who actually use their products (rather than those who've not, and who must have attended their car clinics) to offer advice on form and functionality.
I personally would like to see motorway junctions and services as intermediary information of the junction view of the SatNav (when it works) along with times/distance (a lot like the functionality of previous D3/D4 which was fab.

My dream, to have all aspects of the car all working correctly at the same time. Surely it's not too much to ask for, especially since the D5 cost a good deal more than the previous D4, which just worked without fault from day one!

Does the Voice button on the steering wheel work?

They had to to replace the ICM module to get mine working again after the V3 update.

I can press the voice button, but nothing now happens!

I bet Prince William in his D5, collecting his wife and new baby, doesn’t have these kind of issues!

It’ll be the death of me, and seriously Censored as I’ve had numerous Discoveries before (all far better!) and I would consider myself as being loyal to the brand ,but this is trying my patience.
Not only is it the most expensive Discovery I’ve ever had, I expect all of it to work! At that price and if I can’t forgive a couple of foibles a new customer to the brand will just walk away. LR needs to get their act together fast, else styling alone won’t save them. They’ll go the way of LADA.

This may well be the turning point, the overall design concept is flawed and not really a Discovery and let’s hope LR don’t screw up the new Defender as well else they’re doomed.

We too have had so many issues with the talegate randomly opening as well as closing down on us while loading and unloading the boot- it's dangerous and a matter if time before it hurts somebody or causes damage! We also have issues with lack of radio from time to time which is usualy rectified by restarting the car. We have every update available which simply doesn't help. This is my 5th Land Rover now but sadly with the issues and level of customer support from the dealer (lookers) which is non existent and Land Rover customer services, it is very likely to be my last.
There is little wonder that they are cutting back on production.

I think you guys should get sorted soon. I understand the Land Rover software dept been working on another project. Heard TSB mentioned.
Not sure how that one went. Rolling with laughter

OMG guys, sounds like some real crap going on with you - I hope they get this stuff sorted asap, and fire their software QA team!

My car has V3 and (fingers and toes crossed) i've not had any of your problems. However I still have an issue with the internal alarm sensors not working, the car 'beeps' twice when I unlock it after its been double locked, signifying the alarm sensors are faulty. Its going in for investigation on the 24th May, however i'm seriously contemplating not bothering, as I don't want the car coming out of the dealership worse than it went in! Only problem is I guess this could invalidate my insurance as the car doesn't have a fully working alarm system (opening a door/tailgate will set off the alarm, however if someone smashes the window to grab something inside, the alarm won't sound).
