I have just looked on Topix and there is a service bulletin N222 (issued 5/10/18 ) for TDV6 engines that requires a Powertrain Control Module update and an oil and filter change if the vehicle is below 75% of its next service interval.
Publication No.: N222

VIN Range: 030810 - 079568
Model: Range Rover (LG)
Model Year: 2018
VIN Range: 360475 - 516163
Model: Range Rover Sport (LW)
Model Year: 2018
VIN Range: 693135 - 813912
Model: Range Rover Sport (LW)
Model Year: 2018
VIN Range: 163397 - 414420
Date of Issue: 05/10/2018
Expiry Date: 31/10/2020

Jon - these are 2018 VINs only...can you download and post the whole N222 bulletin including the problem description? If it is limited to 2018's then it doesn't really help those of us with 2017 Td6 engines, or the RRS folks who have had them since 2014.
I'll have to log in to the NAS site to see if it's there on this side of the pond.

I am afraid I only paid for a 24hr subscription while checking out wiring diagrams. Sorry.
You can still sign up without paying and view which ‘campaigns’ are outstanding on your own VIN numbers, you just can see the detail of them without paying.
Next time I buy 24hours access I will try to remember unless someone else does before me.

N222 only mentions 2018 model year vehicles. When searching documents for a 2017 TD6 the bulletin does not come up.

I don’t seek the D300 Velar on this list - is it immune to the problem?

Oh well - here we go again -
Bought Dec 17, 4500 miles on the clock
1st service needed 7700 miles (so 3200 miles)
2nd service needed 11300 miles (so 3600 miles)
Now calling for its 3rd service 14100 miles (so 2800 miles)
Each time I have been told that there is no oil dilution problem just a software issue.
Each time the oil has been changed (or so I am told) just in case.
Each time I am told the software has been updated so the problem is solved.
To be honest, I really don't think the dealer knows what they are doing.
Have yet to book it in again as I am fed up with the car.
I have lost faith in the product & the brand..

You can reject the car as not as described, and not it for purpose
Email LR Customer car, they will respond with a case number
Ask them to review the work to date and liaise with the dealer to allow them one final attempt to fix the issue, if they cant fix it then you can reject it
This may take a couple of months - get booked in for repair, and then drive some miles to see if it is fixed.
Given the age you would not qualify for an assisted customer exchange, but goodwill will be available, the dealer should take your car back at the CAP price for very good condition, and supply you a replacement vehicle at cost price

Hi,
my (dealer-) pre-owned D5 did not get any oil service before the hand-over-service at 19.000km (10 month old). At first it showed reasonable km-to-go before the next oil service. But now it wants the service in 2.950 km, which makes it just 8.000 km (approx. 5.000 miles) after the hand-over-service.
So I got the same issue as you guys now.
(@DG Yeah I can hear you lough already

Makes you wonder if the dealer told you the truth. Would you have bought the car if he'd told you it needed oil changes every 5-8k km ?

No of course not.
My guess is, he didn't lie, he just didn't care. When I got the car I looked up OSH (online service history) and topix. Within topix, there were several campaigns that they had not done. Including the one to adjust the trunk so it wouldn't rub on the lower trim and get damaged in the process. And including at least one DPF/oil dilution fix. OSH showed the initial service when the car arrived at the dealers, but no further services.
So my guess is, they just didn't care about the car a bit. Drove it, put diesel in it and finally sold it to me.

That's weird:
My D5 is MY17. But my VIN is within the range: SALRA2BK9HA03794X
Topix doesn't show this campaign for me though. Last time my D5 got an DPF/oil dilution patch was July 10th, where N222 wasn't available yet.

Is this a record?

App is saying service due immediately and car says in next 500miles
And I have to do a 500mile round trip this week.
WTH..
Dealer is getting some phone call tomorrow.....!

Eh, don't be too concerned about it. Even if the oil *is* diluted, another 500mi isn't going to break it.
But it's probably not diluted.
N222 doesn't show up on my TOPIX either.

Yeah I get that but just the hassle .
Need to get my head round topix.
But tbh I just wanted a car we can rely on..
My heavily modded amarok pickup that does a chunk of off-road work...has been in the garage twice since new nearly 3 years ago... for services...
I guess I should have learnt my lesson...but I still Ruddy well love my D5

Agree with DieselRanger, I called the dealer at 3,500km (yes not miles!) when it first complained about needing a service immediately but drove another 1,100km before it was booked in. No ill effects.
