SIM Card Questions
Just about to receive my new to me D5 and would like some recommendations to what SIM Card is suitable for the additional data.
Do the cards just work or do you need to register or activate them or sign up for a contract if it's a preloaded 12 month card?

The preloaded ones are play and play, no registration required.

You will have to register the Three one to activate it I think.

So. got the 12gb three card, inserted, registered with LR in control etc, I guess it works as I can carryout remote operations from my phone. lock/start etc. Please correct me if thats wrong.
I cannot access web. Gone to settings/features/connectivity/selected mobile data, accepted terms, reading sim but message says 'sim removed' tried several times, removing replacing sim but no change. could someone explain what if anything I am missing.

You may have a dodgy SIM card reader, it is a fairly common fault.
Maybe just try the SIM from your phone first to double check?

I understood the remote app works off the LR sim ( non removable, hidden factory fitted etc etc ) , and not the SIM threat you use for ICTP services

Hi
I had a 2018 MY disco without a sim. I got an o2 sim 12gb across 12 mths for 40 quid. Only using it for live traffic used about 1.5 gb in 8 months.
I have just changed for a 2019 MY and this comes with a 500MB per month sim for 3 years. When you put the sim in and turn on mobile data it shows 4G network but lots of data functions don't seem to work - including getting the something went wrong at our end message.
What i have since found is that you have to continue to account setup before you can actually use the data. You do this by turning on the wifi hotspot and connecting by wifi with your phone. The supplied sim was a Ubigi. Open phone browser and go to ubigi.me site to enter some basic info. Setup completes and all functionality then available. The website / account shows data useage per month if you need to check this.
Hope this helps.
