    Manual Tight Tolerance Mode

On the D5 you can set the car into tight tolerance mode manually should anyone need this.

    The procedure is as follows:

    Gearbox in Park
    Start the engine
Set the suspension to Normal height
    Open the drivers door
Press the brake pedal lightly 3 times letting the pedal come up fully each time
And close the door within 10 seconds from first press of the brake pedal.

There will be 2 chimes from the instrument cluster after the door is closed, if successful. Each time the door is opened and closed 2 chimes will sound indicating it is still in tight tolerance mode.

    To deactivate:

Either turn the engine off, or drive it over 5mp/h (8km/h)

If you were to use this procedure for wheel alignment you need to have the engine running the whole time.

I could boast about trail and error. But no, from the workshop manual.

With this mode on, what does it actually change on the vehicle?

    Hi Gavin,

Normally the air suspension doesn't self level until it has to adjust by a certain number of mm (I thought 10 but happily be corrected). This doesn't suit doing wheel alignments so in tight tolerance mode it adjusts quicker (not sure but may be 2 or 3 mm when it adjusts).

    Regards
    Ron

Seems I wasn't far off. This is from the IIDTool manual:

This will set the EAS ECU into tight or normal tolerance mode. In normal tolerance mode, the EAS ECU
will adjust a corner when itโ€™s +/- 10 mm or higher than the desired height. For example if the corner is
at +9 mm, it will not correct the height. If the corner is at +11 mm, the EAS ECU will make adjustments.
In tight tolerance mode, a tolerance of +/- 3 mm is used.
