except, if I used remote start outside the house at 6am, I think I would be dead by now....at least the timed climate is close to silent and uses considerably less fuel (not saying I would pay £1k for it and think its a shame the app will not activate the timed climate only start the engine)
I would personally say that the remote start and engine running is quiter than the whistleing/howling the FBH used to do on my previous Discos

to defrost the car and warm it enough to be meaningful, from a usual UK winter of about 0 to 2 degress in the morning it would need to run for about 20 mins, takes ages at idle to get much heat out of a diesel engine. my neighbours and otherhalf would not be happy if I did that every morning, whilst its quite a refined diesel, it still has a clatter in the silence of 6am. I wouldnt even consider doing it.
Would disagree, mine defrosts afailry hard forst in about 10 minutes and is quiter than the FBH whilst running
I would also question the fuel saving as well, the D5 TD6 is a very frugal engine and far more economical than previous Discovery engines, where as the FBH is not designed to be fuel efficient
From my expirience I think comparing previous Discoveries to the D5 engine start option, I would say that the engine running for 10 minutes probably uses less fuel than the FBH running for the same time

Bit of a post hijack but does the remote start function also turn the light on if it’s dark?? (For example early morning would a remote start potentially shine the headlights in a neighbours house for 10 mins?)
No it doesnt
