    I was a bit confused about InControl Touch Pro and text support (and it not working with my Android phones), so I did some searching and found this

    Can Touch Pro read out incoming text messages and emails?

    Windows Phone handsets can be configured to read out and reply to text messaging when a compatible device is connected via Bluetooth. However, this feature is not currently supported by Touch Pro for use with Android and Apple devices.

    (This explains why it only works with my old Microsoft Lumia 950XL Smile)

    That is an out of date web page, before Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

    With Apple Car Play you can hear texts and dictate them.

    Haven't they thought of us poor souls that don't want to use the useless Android auto or Apple Carplay?

    Also... I don't want to have to plug in my phone every time I get in the car.

    In the D2, my hands-free kit automatically read out the messages over the Bluetooth connection.

    Ac and AA only work over a USB cable.

    Talk about a step back!!

    I'm using an android phone over bluetooth and my car reads text messages out - or have I missed the point on this thread?

    My phones android. Any incoming messages are then displayed on the infotainment screen and can be read out at the press of a button. This is just with the bluetooth activated.

    Am pretty sure this also happened before I had the Apple Carplay / Android Auto update.

    Mind you I rarely get text messages, more so because everyone is using WhatsApp.

    I wonder if What's App can be displayed on the infotainment screen?

    yes, I should have made the exception clear of Android Auto and Apple Car Play. My point was with JLR InControl Touch Pro software by itself.

    my guess is you don’t have an HSE with the Touch Pro screen (or you’re using Android Auto, there’s a difference).

    Mine is touch pro on a hse lux and reads texts out over bluetooth. Both of my last D5's have.

    hmm, which Android phone if I may ask? As I said up above, I don’t text support with any of my Android phones on my HSE Lux and Touch Pro, And i’m on the latest InControl software.

    Samsung phones. Have used 3. A150, Ace,and S9. Only just had carplay update but don't use it - prob never will.

    well, maybe it's my Samsung S10 then, it is an odd-duck, being a Hong Kong variant (dual-SIM), but I really wouldn't think they would exclude that one from messaging support. And my Sony doesn't work either. Hmmm.

    Perhaps someone from the US on this site could confirm they can get the facility. Or have you had it previously on other cars?

    Not familiar with US laws / restrictions myself.

    Both my phones are Sony.
    New Xperia 1, and XZ1.
    Both work fine via Bluetooth with regards to incoming texts.
    Maybe your Sony needs a software update?
