Do I need a new battery?
Good evening,
I have owned my 2017 D5 3.0 HSE since October 25 and really love it.
My only query is if I leave the car for a week or more, I get the 'Low Battery - Start Engine' come up on the dash. Is this a common thing or should I renew the battery?
I tend to user the car only for longer runs as I understand they don't like being used on short journeys in town as it can clog up the emissions systems. Otherwise I would use it a lot more.
Many thanks

My 2017 still did that even after replacing the battery.
I have a habit of leaving the car unlocked at home (in the rear of our property). Do that a couple of nights and the battery will be asking to be recharged.
The funny thing is…it’s stopped doing it so much recently.
Since having software updates reloaded at main dealer I have noticed several changes to the vehicle. One is that the auto stop/start seems to kick in more regularly…even after shortish journeys. It’s as if the battery is getting a better charge now.
Just my observation.

On my fourth battery (three replacements) in my MY23.5. I find they are bloomin' useless, but all mine have been replaced under LR Assist, so it's at their cost, not mine, But still!
My BlackVue dashcam probably doesn't help, but it was a pro install and the settings are set to switch the thing off a the most sensitive of battery levels, so as not to risk anything. That said, after 10 days on the drive last summer whilst away on hols, the car was effectively totally dead.
I just kind of live with it... the other day, when cleaning/loading the car prior to returning from hols in Scotland, with the doors & boot open for a good couple of hours, I ended up just switching the ignition on for the last 35/40 mins, just to ensure no "low battery" warnings when wanting to leave swiftly to catch the ferry next morning...
