I did my sons with the ditch finishers in place on the car
I presume there wasn’t anything underneath them then to hit with the drill? How did you know where to drill and how did you cut out the bits?

In case anyone else wants to try this…. I bought aftermarket rails from LRparts.net. Seem to be good quality. They come with a sticker template pack to put on the car trims to mark the cut outs. I didn’t remove the trims from the car and cut them in-situ. I used a dremel and just squared the ends of the cut out rather than curving them as per template and it worked fine. Just note - the front trim is aluminium I think and it took about 6 cutting wheels per side. I made my cut outs a bit smaller than the template and found it difficult to get the metal brackets into place while they were attached to the rail so I just removed them and then bolted down through. I preferred to leave more material on the trims.
