I've yet to read a positive report about Taggarts regardless of what LR forum I've been on.

Sounds very much like the dealer used by us both needs a lesson in preparation of a new vehicle. With the recent decent weather I've noticed further paint blemishes, I'm also now in no doubt that the front end has been gone over with a polsiher as the swirl marks are ridiculous.

Yes I agree. You should kick up a stink mate. Must think we are stupid, and if we complain get accused of NOT BEING HAPPY.

It's not a Ford Fiesta we are purchasing, plus it's supposed too be a premium product with a premium 5 star service. More like 0.5 star service if that.

I got far better service when I bought my Ifor Williams trailer, compared too this shower of amatuers Censored

All around car is marked with horizontal scratches and a dent on the roof. Shambles Sad Censored

I wasn't going to name names, but now it's out there I'll say that Taggarts certainly haven't covered themselves in glory with my or Road Runners purchases, they don't seem to get the fact that buyers expectations increase when they sell what they claim to be "premium vehicles" at "premium prices", to put out £70k+ vehicles which havent been properly PDI'd or prepped is inexcusable !!

What happened with your D5 ? Has it been fixed ? What caused the fault / s ?

We all realise the PDI is the last chance to see obvious faults like trim, paint defects, maybe wrong specification issues, pressures, levels, etc
Can dealers find what may be lurking - only to be found when vehicle used ? On,y can be done by driving it & basically you do that by using it.

Big issues like clouds of smoke - abnormal on any vehicle are to me maybe a build issue (way it's been built - early days yet), individual component parts issues that even though using known parts from other vehicles is going to crop up, or soemething that goes back to design & engineering. Dealers just can't be expected they service & do repairs - not interpret the above.

Most new vehicles launches are bound to have some issues. But it's how these are handled is important to a new vehicle user plus those watching like us - I would have thought that in this period of early adopters being test drivers, LR would be right there to sort things. Nowadays with digital photographs & video, being able to send diagnostic reports, close proximity of LR as its midlands based - to me a way of resolving things fast.
With £70k vehicles faulting LR ought to be all over situations. Not just customer or public relations but getting "product in the field" data back.
LR product support not being involved is wrong, but whose choice is this ? Theirs or dealers ?

Worrying the hell out of me as a prospective buyer maybe others too.

    Trustworthy ????

Well surprise surprise my mystery problems returned again this evening, after LR had the car for 4 days saying no fault was found. Tested everything they said. Censored Censored Censored

I drove car back this evening from work 2 miles away
    at 30mph.

Cars only covered 250 miles since new.

Smelt the strong burning plastic/wiring smell again, from the passenger side, next too the windscreen, when I parked up this evening but no visible smoke.

Just ignored it as assured car was fine, even though at the back of my mind something was not right.

Mrs took it out too get some shopping an hour later.

Supermarkets only 2 miles away. She drove at 30 mph.

Well she rang me when on the way back saying a very strong smell like burning rubber/plastic, and smell was coming into the car. Drove back with windows open as she felt physically sick.

Just as she pulled into the driveway and parked up, the smoke started too emit from the bonnet at the exact same spot where I had seen it coming from. Not as much as when I first experienced it but still quite a bit all the same.

Well we both can't be imaging the same issues as LR are saying no fault can be found. Sad

She said NO SMOKE was visible whilst driving either. I experienced the exact same last Tuesday, and only noticed the smoke when the car was stopped, albeit the acrid fumes had already entered the inside of the car by then stinging my eyes. Seems the wind is dissipating the smoke whilst on the move, and only noticeable when cars stationary.

Even more alarming is the fact that there could be a full on fire when driving and you only notice the smoke when stopped. Shocked

Anyhow whats worrying me is that maybe the issue could possibly be speed related. As we were both driving in the town at 30 mph, there were smoke fumes but not as much as when I had the car on the duel carriageway. Is it possible that the higher engine temperature is triggering the fault as far less wind is entering the the grill during town driving rather than driving on the dual carriageway which leads too alot more wind, hence cooling the engine more efficiently.?????
My car has quite a large bonnet scoop to let as much air in as possible and not once have I experienced any overheating problems.

No follow up from my dealer who phoned me on Monday evening. Waited 2 days and still no updates.

Well next time it decides too smoke and smell of plastic, I think i will just put a brick on the accelerator and leave it too self combust and hopefully LR will take note and see for themselves that it's not a figment of my imagination. Do they want someone too get seriously injured or even killed before they admit that there is an issue with the car. Censored Censored Censored

Not happy too say the least. Phoning customer services tomorrow asking for a full refund and tell them too remove the Fire Hazard from my driveway, as its a ticking timebomb in my opinion.🔥

Not even chancing parking it in the garage incase it self ignites and burns the house down. Sad

Went outside at 11:00pm too check car was ok and not smouldering. Temperature outside was 5 degrees and quite cold. However the heat emitting from the cars grill was so warm, even though car was stationery for 4 hours, plus a droning/wining sound coming constantly from the engine is another issue tonight. Possibly it's a knock on effect from last Tuesdays fiasco Sad

Smokes emitting from the top right of the engine, when facing the car. But if sitting inside it's the passenger side where all the so called action is happening Shocked

It's coming from deep down somewhere. The neighbours must think am mad as was smelling the area next too the passenger side windscreen where you can smell it strongly.

Mrs is refusing too sit in it let alone drive it now, as the fumes could possibly be toxic. Not good for adults let alone with kids in the car Censored

If it's that bad I'd be worried about the risk of the driver losing consciousness.
I'd be looking to borrow a gas sensor and have it inside the vehicle.

When I'm not in the operating theatre, I'm mountain biking, spending time with my family, running and socialising. I have a Discovery 5 HSE Lux with pretty much every option ticked. This is my first ever Land Rover. Been a rocky road with regards to reliability but we're getting there.

I work with chemicals on a daily basis Doc, and am fully aware of the consequences of what can happen with stuff like H2S . Lethal once it goes over a certain ppb as you get desensitised too it and cant smell it, and the next thing is your unconcious or dead, hence i have too wear H2S detectors at work.

Anyhow the water streaming out my eyes and burning sensation in them took me completely by surprise, and thankfully avoided a major accident on the day i picked it up. Shocked

Shocked was an understatement. Nothing can prepare you for that as happened all of a sudden as was having a relaxing drive and then next thing its mayhem/panic with smoke bellowing out the engine, and with severely limited vision.

Well am not chancing anything now, as i value my life and my families and other road users lives. I could have easily ended up wiping an innocent family out through no fault of my own, as thats the scary thing. Shocked

Left me really shaken up and am not easily fazed, as i have had my fair share of high performance bikes and cars in the past. Rolling Eyes

Just wish i had my ROADHAWK cameras installed as would have had the proof too show them what had happened inside the car and outside. Shocked

We have a similar issue with my wife's DS. LR refuse to accept there is an issue so, having had the Sep 16 car for the last 7(!) weeks, it came back today. Same problem - warm engine, fumes enter the car when you slow right down. Let's see if the problem repeats. I think LR have a major issue with the DPF regeneration system on their Adblue set up and are refusing to acknowledge it as the recall will be huge. Hey tell us the smell entering the cabin is normal. We actually tracked how much they drove my wife's car to test it by using the most journeys bit of the Incontrol app, and they did a total of about 15 miles in seven weeks. You might want to do the same thing as I fear we are all being fobbed off here. Haven't had the same issue with the D5 thankfully.

Hey Phil sounds like a similar problem mate. Rolling Eyes

Only drove mine 20 miles too test it after i reported the problem, but it happened after 115 miles of driving. I also told the garage this as was not a true representation of how long they had driven it on a test drive, and the mechanic said if it happens again i should reject the car which i am in the process of doing Sad

Are you officially rejecting this car now? Don't forget you've already ordered your stickers!
