The wonky plate is an iconic feature of the D5, a talking point.

I’m happy with mine and don’t lose sleep over it. Good luck to those that want to hack away at a new car and void the warranty just for vanities sake.

Agree. I like the offset number plate, who knows it could become “iconic” in years to come.

I work with some OCD software engineer types that need to square everything on their desks. The offset plate drives them nuts, and I love it. Twisted Evil Rolling with laughter

I agree, I bought the car with a wonky plate, so why waste good money "fixing" it!! Rolling with laughter

Agree. I've already grown used to my offset plate after 3 days.

And for €809 I'd rather drive my 'wonky plate' D5 to a nice rented cottage by the sea for a week for the same money!

If you're going to change something you never look at, unless you have a fixation for it, why not just buy a Ford Explorer and change the badges for LR ones and save a ton of money instead.
They basically look alike except the plate is in the centre.

I personally never look at specific bits of a car to like it or not. A bunch of little bits do add up though
Just like people, if i look at bits that bother me an fixate on them, no one would fit the bill. Rolling with laughter

Same with vehicles, there will always be something that bothers you. For me, on the D5 it's the Remote app only working properly once in a blue moon.

Some bizarre Sat Nav instructions. On the motorway with say, 93km left, it will tell me not to take an exit and stay on.
Or the SatNav not giving directions if not on the SatNav page. Or take this exit, once you're at said exit.

And Some annoying dash indications. Like someone has sat down in a seat, "press OK to clear". and now someone has buckled their seatbelt, "press OK to clear".

Also, not being able to fold the middle row seats from the seat itself, you have to do it from the front, the rear or the app.

But never ever did i look at the rear and say "i hate that, but i'll buy it and then swap part of the rear end".

I love the fact that it's different to EVERY vehicle on the road. Although the grey front and rear "skid plates" are like every other SUV out there. And the basic shape looks alot like a Ford Explorer.
But I'm not going to change bumpers to have it look different.

If it's that horrible to you, just get a different vehicle then.

And anyways, how could i differentiate my D5 to a Disco Sport other than size ? From the rear they will now look alike.

    Ok, rant over hahahahahaha

I understand we all have our own tastes, but to hate something so much as to want to spend extra to change it...just don't get one !

I can’t find a thread on this subject - but is there a type of number plate my dealer should be fitting to the rear now? - the one I saw looks like the one with a big red X through it on this article.

I’m not asking about changing the boot lid/rear end - neither is Gerry McGovern...

Apparently dealers are using the wrong plate.

For what it is worth certainly in some if not all Canadian Provinces number plates are issued by the provincial licensing authority and are all the same size. I believe this is also the case in some US states.
