Come on, it is called wireless because you don't need to plug the charger cord every time, you just place the phone on the pad or magnetic surface and it starts charging, but of course you have to connect the charger itself to the power source. Yes, I have a metal piece behind the phone case and it holds very good.

as i don't have InControl Pro (cos of the whole 'not available in your country' so no Spotify on screen) i have to make the most of the iPhone and Bluetooth combo. i also prefer to see the screen all the time if possible but i'd rather have the phone charging under there and use it if/when i need it than stick a phone holder that i don't like anywhere on the car. if i find one i like then i might get one, or when i get the 3D printer i might try to make my own.
that's pretty neat, do you need to stick a magnetic pad onto the phone too?

I have a combination of magnet holder and wireless charger, so it charges when attached and no wires needed to connect/disconnect. Very good quality, made of aluminium. I have it attached with 3M not to cover the air flow, but it can be attached to the air grill. ut wireless charging works only with Samsung phones and latest iPhones.
yes, under the case. you can see the full description at the link.
The magnetic pad is also covered with some kind of leather-like material, so you can use it directly without a case and no metal parts will touch the charger (somehow you are not allowed to place metal directly to the wireless charger as metal will start to warm up)

Signal is perfectly fine.
I find it hard to believe that JLR didn’t actually make that little mat a wireless charger, ffs u can get a kia picanto with one (well not sure if that car exactly but cara like seat ibiza etc do).
What could it have cost them? £10 to make?! 😡😡😡

I leave it in my trouser front pocket. With the seat belt on it is a pig to get out and so discourages use of it while driving (heavy fines and points on your license if caught). Suits me. Text can be read out by the car although it makes a hash of messages in Dutch. If I need to, I just call back.
So it’s illegal even on hands free?Different laws over there?
I sometimes have 30-40 calls a day whilst driving so could never leave them all unanswered.
One of the reasons I have mine on a mount is because it’s not illegal to touch the keypad when driving, only becomes illegal if you are holding the device.
